Lucy Preston (Abigail Spencer) looks through the memories of this timeline when her fiancé, Noah (Daniel DiTomasso), asks why she isn’t joining him in bed. He gives her the engagement ring that he believes that she lost and is confused by Lucy’s odd reaction. As he tries to kiss her, she gets a call from Agent Denise Christopher (Sakina Jaffrey), asking her what happened on September 24, 1962. Lucy doesn’t know the significance of that date.

As Christopher urgently asks Rufus Carlin (Malcolm Barrett) and Jiya (Claudia Doumit) to find Flynn’s location in 1962, Connor Mason (Paterson Joseph) asks to speak to Rufus in private. He shows him footage of Flynn stealing the time machine and speculates that project lead Anthony Bruhl (Matt Frewer) was in on Flynn’s plan. Rufus refuses to believe that his mentor is involved and Jiya manages to find out that Flynn is in Las Vegas. Lucy figures out the President John F. Kennedy was there during that time, along with other famous figures that could be in danger.

In 1962, Judith Campbell (Elena Satine) is in bed with President John F. Kennedy and walks to the window to see an atomic bomb go off in the desert. The president comes over and kisses her in front of the open window. Below, Garcia Flynn (Goran Visnjic) pulls out a camera and takes pictures of the affair. As the three time travelers prepare for their mission, Wyatt Logan (Matt Lanter) asks Lucy about the engagement ring on her finger. She tells them about her unexpected engagement to a man she has never met before.

The time machine arrives in 1962 and they see a nuclear bomb test in the distance. Lucy tells them that the desert used to be a nuclear testing site and that Las Vegas was nicknamed Atomic City. Stepping into the casino, Lucy and Wyatt argue about how to get into the sold out show. Rufus finds some waiter uniforms and brings them over. Lucy isn’t happy that she’s been given a cigarette girl’s uniform and demands that he find a waitress uniform. The three of them enter the show where Frank Sinatra is performing and serve the guests. A man hits on Lucy and Judith stands up to him.

Rufus sees Anthony sit down at the bar and goes to join him. Anthony warns him that he shouldn’t be here, but Rufus insists that he will rescue him from Flynn. Once he sees that Anthony is unattended, he realizes that he is willingly working with Flynn. Anthony warns him to get to safety and mentions a Christie Pitt, which confuses Rufus even more. Lucy and Wyatt spot Flynn and follow him as he tells Judith to come with him. Wyatt follows him into the kitchen and they get into a fight. Flynn gets away and Wyatt questions what Flynn wants with Judith.

They drag her into a hotel room, but she refuses to cooperate because she doesn’t trust them. Rufus and Lucy tell her that they are undercover cops, but Judith doesn’t believe them. Wyatt tells her that they work for the government and are investigating Flynn. Lucy sends Judith into the bathroom and tells Wyatt and Rufus that Judith is Kennedy’s mistress and that she passed messages from the president to the mob. Before they can figure out what Flynn wants from her, they find her trying to escape out the bathroom window. Wyatt forces her back into the hotel room and threatens to tie her up. Wyatt confronts her about being Kennedy’s mistress and Judith tells them that Flynn has pictures to blackmail her with. Lucy promises that they will help keep her secret and stop the pictures from being released.

Out in the desert, Flynn confronts Anthony about the agency’s ability to find the location of where they are traveling, not just when. Anthony says that Rufus is smart enough to figure it out and Flynn suggests killing Rufus so that the time travelers will be unable to follow them. Though Anthony pleads for Flynn to not hurt Rufus, Flynn insists that there will be casualties in their mission to destroy Rittenhouse once and for all.

Back in the hotel, Judith asks Lucy if she is involved with Wyatt. She says no and gets Judith to open up to her. Judith asks her if she’s ever woken up and been unable to recognize her own life. In the other room, Rufus and Wyatt talk about Anthony and try to figure out who Christie Pitt is. Wyatt realizes that Flynn has always been a few steps ahead of them and that he wants to be ahead of him for once. He formulates a plan that involves using Judith as bait to lure Flynn to them. Lucy and Rufus question this plan, but Wyatt insists that he’s tired of Flynn ruining history and wants the upper hand. When Lucy tells him not to, Wyatt challenges her to try and stop him.

Judith stands in front of the open window while Wyatt waits for Flynn. Soon enough, Flynn arrives and passes by Lucy and Rufus in the lobby. Wyatt pulls out his gun, but Judith knocks him out with the hotel telephone and goes to Flynn. She agrees to do whatever he asks to prevent the pictures from falling into the wrong hands. Wyatt is too late to stop them and Lucy and Rufus criticize him for the plan gone wrong.

Flynn and Judith pull up to the atomic testing site and Judith goes to meet with the general. After asking him to get a bottle of champagne for them, she frantically searches the vacated office for keys. She finds them in a desk drawer and sits at the desk when the general comes back, slipping them into her coat pocket. She brings the keys to Flynn and demands that he hand over the pictures to her in exchange for the keys. The deal is made and they drive off.

In the hotel lobby, Lucy finds Wyatt attempting to send a telegram to his wife fifty years later to prevent her death. Rufus runs up to them and tells them that he’s figured out that Christie Pitt is not a person, but a nickname for an atomic bomb core. Meanwhile, Flynn uses the keys to open a door where a giant nuclear bomb sits inside.

As Flynn extracts the bomb core, Rufus steals a car and they rush to the test site. They pass by them on the road and Wyatt speeds up so Flynn has no choice but to swerve to avoid them. Wyatt and Flynn’s men start shooting at each other and Rufus runs over to the car where Anthony is seated. He pleads with his mentor to hand over the bomb and not allow Flynn to use it. Lucy rescues Judith and Anthony hands over the case to Rufus. Flynn shoots their tire and drives away, leaving them stranded in the desert. Wyatt aims at Anthony, but Rufus asks him not to shoot.

In the desert, Judith tells them that she helped Flynn to save herself instead of the President. Wyatt asks what will happen to her as she walks away and Lucy tells him that her secrets will eventually be exposed and she will die of cancer. Rufus realizes that the suitcase is empty and that Flynn still has the bomb core.

Back in the present, the time-travelers arrive and inform them of what happened. Agent Christopher is furious and tells them that they will have to eliminate Anthony. She asks Wyatt if he shot at Anthony and Wyatt lies that there was never a clean shot. Mason asks Jiya to try and find the location of Flynn’s time machine in the present. Lucy asks Wyatt if the telegram worked, but his wife is still dead. She offers her condolences, but Wyatt is too upset to listen.

Inspired by her conversation with Judith, Lucy tells Noah that she needs a break to figure things out before they get married and Noah is surprisingly supportive. Rufus thanks Wyatt for lying to Christopher about having a clean shot on Anthony and insists that his mentor is not a bad person. Rufus questions why all of this is happening and whether they are on the right side of everything. Jiya finds the time machine in a fifty-mile radius, but not the exact location. Flynn and his men drive to Las Vegas and dig up the bomb core that they buried out in the desert in the past.
