Lucy Preston (Abigail Spencer) answers a frantic knock at the door in the middle of the night to find Wyatt Logan (Matt Lanter) on the other side. He tells her about his intention to save Jessica and addresses her concerns by telling her that it’s worth the risk. Lucy insists that she go with him and Rufus Carlin (Malcolm Barrett), but he tells her that he doesn’t want to drag her into this and that her deal with Agent Denise Christopher (Sakina Jaffrey) would be off the table if she helps him. He tells her that he wants to stop the parents of his wife’s killer from ever meeting and that nobody will get hurt during this mission. Wyatt asks her to give him a head start before informing Agent Christopher of his plan. She wishes him luck before he leaves.

Wyatt points a gun at Rufus to sell him being forced into stealing the lifeboat to the security camera. Rufus prepares the lifeboat and Wyatt forces him inside at gunpoint as the climb inside and travel back to 1983. Emma Whitmore (Annie Wersching) tells Garcia Flynn (Goran Visnjic) and Anthony Bruhl (Matt Frewer) about Rittenhouse’s plans for the time machine – to use it to alter history to their own values. Anthony suggests that they destroy the time machine, but Flynn insists that they stick to their plan of going back in time to end Rittenhouse once and for all.

In 1983, Wyatt and Rufus begin their quest. Rufus is distracted by an episode of “The A-Team” on the TV and suggests that they are like the A-Team through time – the Time Team. Wyatt is focused on the mission and looks for Claire Gilliam (Amanda Brooks) at the airport. Unfortunately, he misjudged the timing of her plane landing and she is nowhere to be found. He approaches a group of stewardesses and tells them that he’s looking for his high school friend. One of them, Allison (Leanne Lapp), gives him the name of the hotel she is staying at.

Back in the present, Agent Christopher yells at Lucy for aiding Wyatt in his mission and admits that she’s been spying on her. Lucy tells Agent Christopher that she understands Wyatt’s actions and that it was only a matter of time before he tried to use the time machine to bring his dead wife back. Lucy accuses her of doing nothing to help bring her sister back and tells her that she would do the same as Wyatt if it would bring Amy back. At the hotel, Wyatt and Rufus step into the bar. Wyatt sees Claire talking to the bartender, Joel (Drew Roy), and realizes that the bartender is the father of his wife’s killer. Jiya (Claudia Doumit) gets a call from Anthony who asks to speak to Rufus. Connor Mason (Paterson Joseph) and Agent Christopher have Lucy speak to Anthony as they listen in. Anthony asks Lucy to meet and gives her a location as well as some instructions. Lucy asks why she should trust him and he tells her that he has a plan to end all of this.

Claire flirts with Joel and Wyatt picks up her key and gives it back to her. He talks to her and tells her that he is in the Special Forces. Later, they are talking at one of the tables. Rufus talks to a patron named Becky (Lucie Guest) and is excited when “Manimal” comes on the TV. Becky shares his excitement for the show, and admits that people think she is weird. Rufus says that she is, but that he is as well. As Wyatt invites Claire, Rufus, and Becky to a club, a tornado warning is issued for the area. Wyatt tries to downplay the storm, but a state trooper (Colin Lawrence) comes in from the storm and announces that everyone will be stuck at the bar for a while.

Mason suggests that he be the one to meet Anthony, but Agent Christopher points out that he didn’t ask for him. He mentions the possible risks, but Lucy decides to take the risk and give him a chance. Wyatt is frustrated as he watches Claire and Joel flirt at the bar and Rufus offers to keep Joel focused on him while Wyatt focuses on Claire. Rufus asks Joel to make a special drink for him while Wyatt asks Claire to play Pac-Man with him. Becky propositions Rufus, but he turns down her advances. As she walks away, Joel tells him to go talk to her. Rufus says that he’d rather talk to him because he’s cool.

Jiya wires up Lucy for her meeting with Anthony and admits that she’s upset that Rufus didn’t tell her about his and Wyatt’s plan. She says that if you really love someone you would tell them big things like this. She asks Lucy how she found out and Lucy tells her that Wyatt told her before he left. Lucy steps out of the van and is pulled into a building by Anthony at gunpoint. He rips her tracker off, disables it and pulls her through the building. As they step outside, Anthony puts the tracker on a passerby’s briefcase.

Pulling her into a warehouse, Anthony is hesitant to trust Lucy. Lucy tells her that he has to and he tells her what he knows of Rittenhouse’s plans. He tells her that he intends to destroy the mother ship and that she should destroy the lifeboat as well. He mentions that he doesn’t trust Mason and to look for an explosion in Oakland on Agent Christopher’s satellite. A passenger from Claire’s flight (Pete Plozek) comes over and hits on her. Wyatt tells him to leave her alone and uses force when he refuses. Claire thanks him and Wyatt asks about her job as a stewardess. She admits that she doesn’t like her job anymore, but can’t go home. Wyatt encourages her to see her family and tells her that he will be seeing his family tomorrow for the first time in years. Allison and the other stewardesses come into the bar and recognize Wyatt as the man who asked for Claire’s location earlier. Claire is creeped out and Wyatt begs her to let him explain. Joel comes over and kicks him out of the bar before comforting Claire.

Rufus goes to check on Wyatt and he is upset that Claire and Joel keep coming back to each other. Rufus suggests that it might be meant to happen, but Wyatt refuses to accept that. He comes up with a new plan to kidnap Joel and take him away from the hotel so that he can’t end up with Claire. Rufus thinks the plan is dangerous, but Wyatt reassures him that nobody will get hurt. Lucy talks to Agent Christopher about what Anthony told her and suggests that they work together to destroy the lifeboat. Lucy convinces her and Agent Christopher tells her to keep it between them. Agent Christopher shows her pictures of Mason meeting with a Rittenhouse agent (John Getz) and Lucy recognizes him as her father.

As the patrons watch the storm coverage on TV, Rufus tells Joel that there’s a flood in the kitchen. As Wyatt prepares to grab Joel, the rude airline passenger tries to fight him. Rufus and Joel walk into the fight and the state trooper breaks it up. He notices a gun hanging out of Wyatt’s jacket and Wyatt tells him that he has a permit for it. The trooper isn’t convinced and arrests him. Flynn and Emma find Anthony working on the machine and Emma offers her help. Flynn takes her away and Anthony works on adding explosives the mother ship.

While the trooper has Wyatt in custody, Rufus runs in and tells him that there’s a creepy kid named Haley Joel outside. Wyatt uses the distraction to attack the trooper and break free of his cuffs. Rufus tells him that Claire and Joel went up to her room and Wyatt grabs his gun. Rufus is worried about what he is going to do and asks what Jessica would think about what he’s about to do. As Claire and Joel hook up, Wyatt bursts into the room and pulls them apart. Claire tells him that she’s not interested in him in that way and Wyatt tells them that he’s trying to save someone’s life by keeping them apart. Wyatt drags Joel out of the room and into the storm. As he tries to force him into his car, Joel tries to run but the wind blows him headfirst into concrete. Wyatt tries to help him up, but he dies. Rufus pulls Wyatt away as he is in shock over what he’s done.

Rufus tries to console Wyatt as he boots up the time machine, but Wyatt is still shaken over killing an innocent man. Still, Wyatt is looking forward to seeing his wife again. Mason asks about Anthony and Agent Christopher refuses to tell him anything. He yells at her for keeping secrets and she tells him that she doesn’t work for him before telling him to leave her office. The lifeboat arrives and Wyatt is apprehended as soon as he steps out. Wyatt asks Lucy about his wife and she tells him that Jessica is still dead. Rufus sees that the other two women the alleged killer murdered have been saved. Wyatt is in disbelief that Flynn lied to him about his wife’s killer and insists that his wife is alive.

Jiya tells Agent Christopher that there was an explosion, but they find no traces of the mother ship in the explosion. They instead find Anthony’s dead body at the scene of the explosion with two gunshot wounds. Rufus asks Agent Christopher to tell Anthony’s family that he died serving his country. Lucy goes to see her father and confronts him about her knowledge of Rittenhouse. He is happy to finally be able to talk to her, but Lucy is angry about his involvement in Rittenhouse. He tells her that Rittenhouse is in her blood and it is her legacy.
