Vicky Jeudy – Orange Is The New Black

By  |

Q) What are the recent projects you have been working on?

A) I’m a bit superstitious so I don’t like to spill the beans in terms of what I am working on, but it will definitely be a surprise when you see it. It’s definitely different than my character Janae on “Orange Is The New Black.”

Q) What can you tease is new this season on “Orange Is The New Black” and with your character Janae?

A) I wish I could share, but I would rather you watch it. It’s so good and all I can say is Season 2 is crazy! Often times when I was reading the script if I wasn’t in the scene I would leave my apartment, walk to set, sit there and watch the scene. I had to watch it in real life and capture that moment. You will be amazed! You will lose your mind! Believe me, I just can’t wait for you guys to see it.

Q) We got to see Janae and Piper team up last season to take on Pennsatucky. The two of you have great chemistry together. What is it like working with Taylor Schilling?

A) She’s an amazing human being. Taylor is very laid back and while working with her she gave me advice on the business aspect of the industry. It was great! She’s a professional and a beautiful human being, inside and out.

Q) The cast seems so close. Who are you closest with from the girls?

A) I am really close to Adrienne C. Moore who plays “Black Cindy.” It’s weird because the first time we worked together was in a scene where I’m confronting her and Yoga Jones (Constance Shulman). Adrienne is very loving, loyal and interested in seeing the best in her friends.  I’m blessed to have her in my life.

Q) Is there anyone you haven’t had scenes yet that you would like to work with in Season 3?

A) I would love to work with Pablo [Schreiber] who plays “Pornstache.” I think his character is a bit unscrupulous on the show. I absolutely adore him from an artist standpoint. I love his work. It would be an honor to work with him.

Q) Who are some of your favorite directors you have gotten to work with on the show?

A) There are a few. I can’t only pick one! It was nice working with Jodie Foster. I miss Michael Trim! All the directors are great and bring different aspects to the table when we are shooting. I like to see things from a different set of eyes.

Q) Ellen Page has expressed guest starring on the show along with other celebrities. Who would you like to see make a guest appearance in Season 3?

A) I am open. I don’t think I have one particular actor in mind. I am interested in what the artist can bring to the character and how they can move the story along. For season 2, Lorraine Toussaint who plays Vee joined our cast and it was a great learning experience.  I had moments where I was scared to be next to her. I think that’s what a marvelous actor does.  I’m a fan of her work. I love her as both a friend and actor.

Q) We had an incredible look at Janae’s life in Season One. What were some of your favorite scenes to film?

A) I really had fun pulling Pennsatucky’s legs. I love Taryn Manning. I was a fan of her work from Hustle and Flow.  I also adore working with Constance Shulman who plays Yoga Jones. Connie is loving, nurturing and has a gentle voice. When I’m confronting her in a scene, afterwards she will say “Come over here baby! Give me a hug!” I love my Connie!

Q) You are a part of social networking sites. Are you looking forward to the instant feedback you’ll be receiving from fans when Season Two airs?

A) I am! I am excited to socialize with the fans. The reason why the show is such a success is because of the fans nationwide and internationally. I want to hear their feedback. I can’t wait!

Q) How does it feel seeing your face on show merchandise and recently on pillars in New York’s subway?

A) It’s amazing to see all of my castmates. It’s unbelievable because I remember when we started the journey. We had no idea what we were stepping into. I have many different emotions from being grateful, humble, excited and emotional.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) If I could scream I would say, “Thank you guys” It’s  because of you that we have a Season 3.  Thank you for your excitement and for joining us on this journey. I love you guys!
