This series is created by life-long Hermione fan Eliyannah Amirah Yisrael and stars Ashley Romans as 25 year-old Hermione Granger.

You had me at Hermione Granger. Much like the creator of this web series, Hermione Granger has been my hands-down favorite Harry Potter character. In honor of Harry Potter’s 20 Year Anniversary I have chosen a Harry Potter themed web series as this week’s Web Series Wednesday.

Ever wonder what Hermione would act like as a 25 year-old? Ever wonder what Hermione would look like if suddenly she didn’t want to be on a specific path with everything planned out? Me too. I have to be honest that is what caught my eye about this web series.

The web series starts out with Hermione on her 25th birthday, having just gotten a promotion at work (The Ministry of Magic) and having been proposed to by Ron.  You would think that the Hermione we all grew up with and loved; the over-achiever; know-it-all with a heart of gold, would be on cloud nine. What is so fascinating about this storyline is that is not the case. Instead, this is how Hermione feels about everything:

“I’ve made all the right decisions, but I’m starting to feel that the right decisions may have been the wrong ones. I’ve planned my way to a perfect life but lost myself along the way. It feels like someone else has been writing the ending for me and it’s wrong. So, I decided to write my own ending.”

Hermione responds to these two major life events by running away to Los Angeles, California and moves in with her Hogwart’s roommate, Pavati Patil. The only part of this series that gives me any hesitation is the fact that Draco Malfoy also currently lives in Los Angeles and their paths keep crossing with somewhat suggestive romantic cues playing in the background during their encounters.  Granted California has apparently had a soothing and restorative effect on Draco, but still Draco and Hermione…together…Even this Hufflepuff continues to struggle with that possibility.

The sky is the limit for a Hermione Granger who no longer wants her whole life planned out for her and just wants to take things as they come. No plan, just going where the wind takes her.
