WHY SHOULD I WATCH?

Keylee and Micah Sudduth write, star and direct in the brand new web series Home, based on their real life experiences. As young creatives with big goals, Keylee and Micah Parker move from small town Texas to the big city of Los Angeles in hopes of achieving their wildest dreams. Through professional hurdles, life’s constant curveballs and their own insecurities, the pair stick together – loving and supporting each other through it all when no one else seems to believe in them.

Each episode focuses on one very serious aspect of growing up from job security to the possibilities of parenthood and every other harsh reality we all wish we could avoid as we move into adulthood. Desperately trying to find their places in the world, Keylee and Micah separately and occasionally together toy with the idea of throwing in the towel and heading back to the place they grew up. The push and pull of wanting to reach their dreams and the longing for stability and security of the lives they left back home is an ever present back and forth for the two and it plays out beautifully.

Home is a fitting title for the series not only because of the themes and subject matter, but because there’s no doubt in my mind that this show will hit home with millennial creators and anyone who’s made a risky move to try and make their dreams come true. The stories are real and relatable without falling back on melodramatic plot devices that other shows of this nature tend to rely on. The performances are genuine in a way that could only be a product of these two truly going through these struggles. The semi-autobiographical content serves the series incredibly well while at times it seems more like a documentary than an independent series due to the accuracy behind the storytelling.

The six episode series, which premieres on January 31st, 2019, is absolutely worth the watch. I urge all artists (whether you’re visual, performance based or writers) to check this one out. It’s grounded completely in truth, showing the sides of the industry only creative hopefuls will understand.
