We open on Waverly (Dominique Provost-Chalkley) as “Gooverly” in her nightgown, wielding a knife and walking in slow motion toward the barn where Dolls (Shamier Anderson) is hiding out.  She notices Dolls’ dog tags on the ground and picks them up. Wynonna (Melanie Scrofano) calls to Waverly and snaps her out of her Gooverly trance. She’s confused about Waverly, who is always freezing, taking an early morning stroll in her nightgown. Waverly’s clearly doesn’t remember walking outside and plays it off as sleepwalking as she puts on Wynonna’s coat. Waverly starts to break down, but pulls herself together enough to march inside after pocketing the knife and dog tags. After taking a moment to process what’s happening to her sister, Wynonna follows. Meanwhile, in the barn Dolls writhes on the ground, calling out for Wynonna.

A Black Badge agent (Curt McKinstry) with a briefcase enters a diner and heads to the back, followed shortly after by two folks. He smacks the woman, Cujo (Maureen Jones), with a pool cue, but he wasn’t prepared for her boss (Billy MacLennan), who we’ll call Bob. Since the briefcase Bob is looking for is handcuffed to the agent’s arm, he and Cujo chop his hand off and abscond with the case.

At BB HQ, Jeremy (Varun Saranga) and Waverly toss around ideas to crack the seal when Lucado (Kate Drummond) enters. She’s learned about the stolen briefcase and sees it as the perfect opportunity get off BB’s shit list. Lucado requests Wynonna’s help, but she’s more concerned with the seal. Waverly jumps at the chance to do some field work and Wynonna agrees after Lucado promises BB backup on hand.

In Shorty’s, Doc (Tim Rozon) and Rosita (Tamara Duarte) are busy cooking up Dolls’ serum. Rosita promises Doc the drug will get done, but she’s concerned about what condition they’ll find Dolls in. Doc is sure Dolls will survive because they all need him to.

Wynonna runs into Nicole (Katherine Barrell) in the breakroom and apologizes for not believing her about Waverly. Nicole believes it has to do with Waverly’s identity crisis, which she does not tell Wynonna. But when Wynonna lists off all the odd Waverly stuff she’s noticed, Nicole seems to get a bit more concerned. Nicole mentions that all the cutlery has magically vanished when Wynonna can’t find a spoon. Wynonna reaches into her jacket pocket and pulls out the knife Waverly stashed in there earlier and they both realize she’s been the one stealing the cutlery. Wynonna reaches into her other pocket and pulls out Dolls’ dog tags and sprints out of the building as fast as she can.

When Wynonna gets to the barn, she finds demon-eyed Dolls. He stalks her around the barn while she low-key panics. He manages to slam her onto the bed and she points Peacemaker at him. It glows orange, proving he’s more demon than human at the moment. She looks into his eyes and tries to get through to Dolls. Eventually, she breaks through, and Peacemaker stops glowing. He tells her to run because he can’t control the demon without his drugs, but Wynonna’s not leaving him. She bonks him over the head with Peacemaker and drags his unconscious body to her truck in a wheelbarrow.

Waverly breaks into a cocktail lounge “Ba-Ding! Ba-Ding!” while Lucado goes over the plan. Waverly’s supposed to get “lost” while dropping off her bartending application and search for the briefcase. Cujo stops Waverly, assuming she’s the entertainment. In her moment of panic, Gooverly takes over and agrees, but as soon as the crisis has passed Waverly takes over again and is confused about being on stage in five minutes. Lucado tells her sing and look out for some folks who just pulled up.

Wynonna helps Dolls into Shorty’s. Rosita doesn’t have the drug ready because she doesn’t know how to balance out the formula for whatever Dolls is. She asks for help from the inside, but Wynonna’s not calling Black Badge and she doesn’t trust Jeremy. Dolls starts to come to and tells Wynonna about Waverly’s dark eyes.

At the Gardner house, Mercedes (Dani Kind) is chowing down on a plate of bacon when Tucker (Caleb Ellsworth-Clark) walks in, surprised by his sister’s behavior. Mercedes ominously tells him Beth (Meghan Heffern) is putting on her face. Tucker’s upset Mercedes didn’t stick up for him with Nicole, but she doesn’t seem to remember. He mentions he wanted to teach Nicole a lesson and is shocked when Mercedes agrees. Freaked out by this complete one-eighty, Tucker flees his house. After he’s gone, Beth starts screaming in another room as Mercedes resumes her feast of bacon.

Wynonna bursts into BB asking where Waverly is. She isn’t satisfied with Jeremy’s answer of “with Lucado.” Jeremy smells some chemicals on Wynonna’s jacket and rips it off her seconds before it bursts into flames. He knows those chemicals are used to make the serum Dolls needs. Jeremy’s stoked Dolls is alive because he’s the only person who understood whatever happened to Jeremy’s mom and also helped him do a chin-up. Wynonna decides to trust Jeremy and sends him to Shorty’s after he tells her the name of the club Waverly’s at.

At Ba-Ding! Ba-Ding!, Waverly’s on stage in an evening gown, preparing to sing. After one false start, she kills her performance. During it, she eyes Bob and the briefcase meeting with someone. The two prepare to leave,so Waverly enters the crowd and finishes her song from Bob’s lap. As soon as her song is over, Bob and the guy head to a back room and Waverly follows, per Lucado’s instruction. It turns out Bob stole the briefcase for a buyer (Jason Schneider), but since he’s picked up heat from BB, he’d like to know what’s inside before selling it. The buyer offers more money, but Bob’s more interested in the merchandise so he kills the buyer. Having heard the entire exchange, Waverly calls for backup as Wynonna shows up at Lucado’s side. Wynonna quickly realizes there is no backup, so she heads inside after punching Lucado. Wynonna finds Waverly next to the body of the buyer and asks if Waverly killed him, which she did not. Wynonna tries to rescue Waverly, but Bob and his squad have heard them and enter the hallway, guns pointed toward the Earps.

Waverly and Wynonna are tied to chairs in a private room of the club. Waverly’s upset that Wynonna blew her cover. Bob knows they’re BB agents and he demands to know what’s in the case. Wynonna tells Waverly at every chance to not say anything, building the illusion that Waverly has all the answers. While Wynonna’s busy trying to keep Waverly in line, Waverly’s busy trying to talk their way out of the situation. Unfortunately, Lucado fled so Bob knows there’s no backup on the way. He tells Cujo to close the club and grab his tools.

In Shorty’s, Dolls says the serum Rosita’s cooked up looks the right color, but Rosita isn’t sure what dosage to give him. Doc’s ready to risk it because Dolls isn’t looking too good. Before they can dose him, Jeremy bursts in and stops them because they were about to give Dolls an overdose. Rosita grabs him by the throat and threatens him, but he’s there because Wynonna sent him and her trusting him says a lot.

Trapped and alone in the club, Waverly finally admits to Wynonna that there’s something wrong with her. Wynonna tries to explain it away as stress from living on a Hellmouth and losing a sister, but they both know that’s not true. Wynonna asked if Waverly killed that guy for a reason. She admits that she’s been having gaps in her memory that started after Wynonna killed the tentacle monster. She touched the goo because it was calling out to her and after that her memory goes blank. Wynonna stops her because they need to escape before tackling what’s going on with Waverly. She drops her phone at Waverly’s feet and they use Siri to call Doc for backup.

At Shorty’s, Doc and Dolls have a little-hearted heart-to-heart where they both admit to “liking” Wynonna. Dolls mocks Doc for losing his hat and Doc mocks Dolls for not being completely human. Dolls explains that he got a ride from Juan Carlo, who delivered him to the Homestead because his job wasn’t done yet. Rosita brings Doc his phone that’s been blowing up with calls from the Earps so he rushes out for a quick rescue.

Tucker stops by the police station to report his sisters and Waverly acting weird, but Nicole’s had enough of him to last a lifetime. When he offers to talk to “our Waverly,” Nicole kicks him out of the station.

Bob wasn’t able to break into the case because it’s made of some fancy metal he’s never seen before so he turns to Plan B. He unties Waverly and places her arm in a vice grip. He demands to know what “EE” on the case stands for and what the combination is. He extends a sharp claw from his hand and cuts Waverly’s arm as motivation. Waverly says “EE” stands for Edwin Earp, but neither sister knows the combination so he chops Waverly’s hand off while Wynonna fights Cujo.

Bob tries to get Wynonna to open the case one last time, but she’s busy threatening him. Cue Doc Holliday flying into the club, taking out thugs and finding a new hat. The shooting sends Bob fleeing so Wynonna grabs Peacemaker and leads Waverly outside. Bob intercepts them and tries to get them to open the case again, but Waverly kicks him in his junk. When they reach the main room, Bob comes after them again. He grabs Wynonna by the throat and ends up with a knife to the back, courtesy of Doc. Wynonna and Doc panic over Waverly’s lost hand as she lies on the ground in pain. Wynonna goes to grab the hand, but Gooverly’s made a quick appearance to regrow her hand and turn control back to Waverly. Waverly doesn’t remember anything and Doc thinks Wynonna got tricked. They leave to drop Waverly at home and go check on Dolls.

At Shorty’s, Jeremy sets out a dosage plan for Dolls and Rosita flirts with him. Jeremy stops her because while she’s gorgeous, she’s not his type because Jeremy is gay. Rosita plays it off as just trying to get him to make a latte run so Jeremy does exactly that. Dolls wakes up and Rosita decides to taunt him. It goes about well as expected. Dolls breaks his restraints, grabs the syringe, injects himself and tells Rosita to run. She runs upstairs and bars the door with a slot machine. Doc and Wynonna show up and Wynonna makes to head downstairs because she’s sure she can talk Dolls down again. Of course, Bob shows up holding Jeremy at claw-point, demanding the briefcase and Peacemaker. Wynonna gladly hands them over, then opens the basement door unleashing a fire breathing Dolls. Dolls burns Bob to a crisp and Wynonna takes him out with Peacemaker.

Tucker returns home to collect his possessions, but his “sisters” want to show him something. They open a door to show his actual sisters without their faces. The ladies in black hijacked Mercedes and Beth’s faces. They want to work with Tucker because of the darkness he has within. He agrees as long as they give him a girl.

At home, Waverly’s figured out the code to the briefcase and they find that the case holds a plate. Wynonna decides to discuss the goo, but Waverly’s not there anymore. Wynonna holds Peacemaker up to Gooverly and it glows orange because Waverly’s not home right now. Gooverly is tired of fighting against Waverly so they’ve decided to switch Earps. Gooverly leans in close and gives a confused Wynonna a kiss that initiates the transfer of Gooverly to Goononna.
