Amanda Jones – Brand New Day

Q) How would you describe your sound?

 

A) I definitely have a fun pop sound with a singer/ songwriter vibe.

 

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

 

A) Carly Rae Jepsen, Taylor Swift and Parachute.

 

Q) What is the songwriting process like for you? Do you need music before you create the lyrics?

 

A) Every song starts out a little differently! Sometimes I come up with a melody and the song grows from there and other times a line will pop into my head and the words flow before the music.

 

Q) How does the lyric music video for “My Goodbye” play into the message of the song?

 

A) We decided to do a simple one-take video, driving through the country for “My Goodbye.” The song is about loss and the video gives off the vibe of reflecting and really missing someone.

 

Q) What do you think it is about “My Goodbye” that fans are really connecting to?

 

A) I wrote the song “My Goodbye” after my cousin died in a car crash. I really struggled with his death and this was my way of getting some sort of closure. I think that anyone that has gone through losing someone- whether it be death, a relationship that went bad, etc. can relate to the song in a special way.

 

Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music for your EP Brand New Day?

 

A) I didn’t produce at all, but that is something I definitely want to dive into in the near future! I got to go to LA and write with Morgan [Dorr] and John [Keefe] from Boys Like Girls (who produced my EP). So, working with them and being pushed as an artist was an amazing experience, which resulted in some great songs.

 

Q) What do you hope listeners take away from hearing Brand New Day?

 

A) The cool thing about this EP is it kind of nails every type of song I wanted to put out. One happy/upbeat song, a song about loss and a song about heartbreak. I hope listeners can find a connection and see the stories within the songs.

 

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

 

A) I would love to work with Will [Anderson] from Parachute on a song someday. He’s an incredible writer! Also, collaborating with Nick Jonas would probably make my life complete.

 

Q) What can fans expect from a live Amanda Jones performance?

 

A) Live performances are super interactive and fun! I play original songs and mix in a cover or two. Most often I play acoustic sets as there’s just something magical about one vocal and one guitar!

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

 

A) Honestly, I would not be where I am today in my music career if it weren’t for social media. Through outlets like Twitter, I’m able to personally connect with my audience and build friendships with them, which I think is so special.

 

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

 

A) Thank you so much for taking the time to listen to my music/watch my videos/come to my shows. It means SO much to me and I am so thankful for every one of you! You are basically my second family and I love you guys.
