Our final episode of the season opens heartbreakingly as we hear sirens and the cries of Abby Clark (Connie Britton) knowing her mother has passed. We are brought to the funeral where another Abby voiceover questions if you are the same person you have always been. She describes herself to have an easy answer to that question a week ago, but now after a pulmonary aneurism has taken her mother and her certainty. When Abby arrives home with Evan (Oliver Stark) she throws flowers in the trash before getting to work clearing her mother’s personal items and restoring her dining room back to its original state. When they finish Evan tells her it looks good. She agrees, but can’t stop herself from her tears returning. Evan is fast to be by her side and hold her.

Cutting to a 911 phone call we hear a wife telling the dispatcher that her husband has gone crazy. Another 911 phone call comes in, but this time being the husband who claims that his wife has gone crazy. They both conclude that it is almost like their spouses are like a totally different person. Athena (Angela Bassett) arrives on scene where the husband is banging on the bathroom door and his wife has locked herself inside. Athena arrests the man and tells him they will sort it out later. She knocks on the door and the wife comes out. In a British accent, she tells Athena her side of the story with a side of hiccups. Bobby (Peter Krause) and Chimney (Kenneth Choi) now arrive to take a look at the husband. The husband continues to plead his case to Bobby before the wife comes out and tells him that they have asked her if she wants to press charges. The husband tells Athena that she has no idea what is going on, telling her that his wife is not British. She was born in Brooklyn and the closest she has ever been to England was watching “Downton Abby.” It hits Athena that the wife could possibly be having a stroke. Bobby agrees and checks out the wife. She asks her to stick out her tongue, which she does so sideways. When he asks her the date of her birth she can’t remember. They rush her off to the hospital.

At Abby’s, Evan shows Carla (Cocoa Brown) that he has found another box of Abby’s mother’s items. He tells Carla that she doesn’t want to keep anything. As he rifles more through it he finds a newspaper clipping that reveals that Abby was an Olympian. His excitement gives everyone a smile as he rushes off in Abby’s room to find a frame for the article. Abby’s brother asks if he has moved in and Abby replies no. Abby’s brother looks at his shoes under the bed and responds that he has taken over the medicine cabinet. Abby just replies that he has stayed to help her through everything that has been going on. Carla gives her a sly smile.

At the firehouse Bobby locks himself in the bathroom to take selfies of himself smiling. A knock at the door interrupts him before he leaves. He is then seen typing on a computer before Hen (Aisha Hinds) and Chimney come up the stairs. He quickly shuts the laptop, which does nothing to help the suspicion of Chimney and Hen. Chimney takes his laptop and sees that Bobby is trying to set up an online dating profile. The team makes fun of him before a woman approaches them yelling at Evan for leading her on. He gets slapped before the woman leaves leading the team to believe that he is back to his old ways. Evan tries to tell them that he is not his old self before the siren rings and they go to work.

At Athena’s home the kids get ready to leave with Michael (Rockmond Dunbar) for the first time since Athena and Michael have decided on a divorce. Athena and Michael talk about how they are on a journey to being more authentic people. He kisses Athena on the cheek before he leaves.

Chimney and Hen talk about Karen (Tracie Thoms) on one of their calls as they arrive at a psychic readings place. A man is pronounced dead and it being zipped up…That is before we get the man’s point of view that he is not dead and screaming for help internally. Hen and Chimney continue to talk about Hen’s marriage problems as they tend to the psychic reader.

Carla serves Abby a cup of tea as Abby continues to sort through her mother’s items and affairs. Carla finds Abby’s mom’s passport and they speak about how her mother never traveled. Carla sits and Abby gives her a gift of earrings that belonged to her mother. Carla thanks her for making her feel like part of the family.

We are taken back to the man who was pronounced dead at the psychic reading house as he is prepped for an autopsy. He continues to scream internally as the undertaker leans down to cut him open. The man gets his body to move in time and wake up. The undertaker freaks out and passes out causing the blade he had to cut him as he passed out. The man gets up from the table and dials 911. Chimney and Hen arrive on scene and put two and two together about the man being the one who was pronounced dead on the call they just did. The man quickly turns the attention on the undertaker who needs assistance. Hen and Chimney attend to the undertaker. Once they survey the situation Chimney checks out the man who tells him that he falls into a paralytic sleep due to his narcolepsy. Hen tells the man that he should wear some kind of indicator to tell people so this doesn’t happen again. The man reveals it has happened three other times explaining it is a gift because he wakes up each time becoming a whole new person who appreciates the delicacy of life just that much more. Chimney is at a loss for words.

Hen seeks out her wife in the grocery store parking lot asking to talk to her. Karen agrees and listens as Hen pours out her heart and begs her to come home. Karen tells Hen that she hurt her. Karen quickly gathers her things and tells Hen she can’t do this right now. Hen tells her she loves her one more time and that she knows that. Before Karen leaves she tells Hen she does know that she loves her.

Evan and Abby eat lunch as Evan asks Abby if her brother likes him. She tells him he does and thinks that he has moved in with her. They talk about moving in before another woman appears at the table and accuses Evan of “ghosting” (ignoring) her. Evan tries to defuse the situation telling Abby it is not true. The girl continues to spout accusations before throwing a drink in Evan’s face. She tells Abby she just did her a huge favor before leaving. Evan is forced to face Abby telling her that none of this is true he is not like that anymore. Abby tells him she definitely does not know who he is right now and leaves.

A man walks through the showroom of a motorcycle dealership and he tells the dealer that his wife would not approve, but he told his son that he would come home looking cool. He asks the dealer if he has any bikes in red. We cut to the man riding down the road in a red motorcycle with a smile on his face. A woman in the car next to him smiles at him and he waves back before he is hit by another car. A 911 call comes in about the crash.

Bobby and his team arrive on scene to see the accident. Athena runs up to tell Bobby that the speed of the impact tore the man clean in two and he has lost a lot of blood. She says she has no idea how he has made it this long. Bobby leans down by the man who rambles telling him that his son is still outside on the porch waiting for his dad to come back. His phone rings and Bobby helps him answer the phone. The man talks to his son and tells him about the bike and that it is so cool. Life begins to leave his body as he tells his son that he loves him. The man dies. Bobby gets up from the man and walks over to the curb and sits in a panic. Athena sits by him and comforts him. She asks Bobby if there is anything she can do for him. Bobby asks her to go with him somewhere.

Evan arrives at the firehouse-accusing Chimney of putting girls up to ruining his life. Chimney tells Evan that it is not him. He tells Evan that after another girl showed up at the firehouse she showed Chimney that there is a MySpace page of Evan. Evan realizes that someone is using his Facebook profile picture to catfish other women. Evan asks who this guy is and Chimney tells him that they can trace his IP address to his actual address.

Bobby takes Athena to his church where he tells her that he comes there often to  keep himself out of trouble. They exchange thoughts about their jobs before Bobby asks her to pray with him.

Evan and Chimney arrive to the address of the man who is catfishing women. They soon discover that the overweight man is deceased inside his home.  When help arrives the coroner tells Chimney and Evan he has never seen a case like this before. Evan tells Chimney he feels sorry for the guy because he hated himself so much he had to pretend to be someone else. Evan see’s people outside gawking and decides to help the man die with a little more dignity. He makes the coroner take care of the body in a way that won’t embarrass the dead man further. When they load the body he thanks the coroner.

Evan returns to Abby’s house to explain the entire situation. She believes him and Evan is relieved. He suddenly sees luggage being packed and asks Abby if she is planning on leaving. Abby says that she doesn’t know who she is and needs to take a trip to Dublin for her mother, but also to find something that she can give to her job and to her life. Evan tells her that he is excited for her almost as much as he is sad for himself. They both tell each other that they are going to miss each other before they embrace.

Bobby gets ready for a date and Chimney comes into the firehouse locker room to make fun of him. After joking around he helps Bobby with his look and they have a sweet conversation before Chimney tells him to have fun. Bobby takes one last look at his black book before tossing it into the trash and heading out of the firehouse.

Our episode ends with an Abby voice over. Karen returns home to Hen and tells her not to make her regret it. Chimney hosts a game night and finds an attraction with one of the victims of Evan’s catfish. Abby and Evan arrive at the airport before stopping just outside. Abby tells him that she must be crazy for leaving him behind. He tells her that she is moving toward something and he is going to be right there when she comes back. They kiss and she leaves Evan as the glass doors close. Our final scene of the season is of Bobby at a nice restaurant. He stands when he sees his date arrive.
