Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I would say that my sound is usually sad girl country; however, with this new release, my sound is shaping to be more upbeat pop country with a flare of songwriter vibes!

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) The people who influence me musically changes all the time. Right now, I would say Carly Pearce, Mackenzie Carpenter, Ashley McBryde, Megan Maroney and Temecula Road!

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Come on Home.”

A) I wrote “Come on Home” with my friend Shantaia back in February. Going into the write, I knew that I wanted to write something upbeat and happy but knowing me I always tend to turn all of my song ideas into sad ones! I came into the write wanting to write about how my boyfriend and I hadn’t moved in together yet and how I was feeling defeated that we hadn’t taken that next step yet. Shantaia and I ended up writing “Come on Home” within an hour and it ended up sounding upbeat!

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I think most people who listen to this song can connect to it because everyone hopes that the guy or girl that they are into makes the next move, whether that is to go on a date, propose, move in together or get out of the friend zone. Now that I live with my boyfriend, I can connect even more with my song after picking up his laundry every day!

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) The music video is going to be a fun watch! Roadhouse Productions and I came up with an interesting concept to project the same feelings about wanting the guy to make the next move. The message behind the video is that you can still be okay on your own, but ultimately, you know what you want! We shot at a remote location in Ontario at a cabin in the woods, which makes the country vibes come to life!

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) My writing process changes every time I write but most regularly, I am in a room with my guitar, and I already have a lyric idea for what I want to write. Then, I start to find the right chords and melody.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I worked with Grady Saxman on this song and the great thing about Grady is that he is very open to how much you want to be involved in the music. I was able to sit in the studio to help decide the tempo, key, instruments, harmonies and riff ideas that would be added or removed from the song.

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future or are you more focused on releasing singles for the time being?

A) Right now, I am focusing on releasing singles, but I would love to release another EP or potentially a full album in the future!

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) One of my all-time favorite stages is The Listening Room Cafe in Nashville, TN. I have played it twice now and the reason I love it so much is because it is one of the only stages in Nashville where the entire audience comes to listen to original music, and they really listen! It is one of the only stages I get nervous to walk on to!

Q) Which of your songs do you most enjoy performing when you do live concerts?

A) “Not My Own” might possibly be the song I will enjoy performing most, forever. It is a song that has made the room go silent and it never fails to put a smile on my parents faces.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Carly Pearce, Riley Green or Miranda Lambert!

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I’ve started re-listening to Taylor Swift’s self-titled album. I grew up listening to that album and it brings me to my happy place. It also sparks a lot of writing ideas for me!

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) I love social media because I am able to connect with artists that I am a fan of, but also people who listen to my music are able to connect with me and see what I do on a daily basis. I have become so much closer with fans thanks to social media!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have learned recently that you will always have people in your life who will support your career and dreams, and you will always have those who do not. For those who have supported me by coming to shows, streaming my songs or even liking my posts, thank you!
