Q) First off, “Set in Stone” is such a jam, the lyrics are so catchy, it tells such a beautiful love story. What was your experience crafting such a song like this?

A) Thank you so much, I appreciate that because I have always struggled to write happy and upbeat songs…I love writing sad songs! So, my experience in writing this one was unexpected! I wrote this song with Nicole Croteau and Andrew Hall. Nicole came into the write with the title “Set in Stone” but wasn’t fully sure which direction to take the song! I had always wanted to write a song for the girls/boys out there getting engaged, so that’s exactly what we did! The song came together within an hour or two and I knew right away that I wanted to release it!

Q) I want to congratulate you on the release of the music video for “Set in Stone!” What a beautiful video. What was the inspiration for this video?

A) I am super proud of this video and will always look back on the day of filming as such a positive experience. Andrew Scholz directed and produced the music video. During our calls to work on the vision for this video, the one thing I mentioned was that I wanted for it to be a feel-good country music video. I wanted viewers to watch it and enjoy it but to also be captured by the storyline. We filmed on a piece of farmland in Franklin, Tennessee in September, and everything from the actors to the team to the weather to the property came together perfectly for what I had envisioned!

Q) What was the production like for this music video? Were there any challenges that you faced while doing it?

A) The production of the music video was almost seamless! The actors were amazing, Andrew was fully prepared and organized with scripts and ideas and the scenery and weather were perfect. I always get nervous before a big shoot that the weather won’t hold up and that morning it did forecast rain and a thunderstorm. However, it ended up being a beautiful sunset with no rain!

Q) How would you say “Set in Stone” is different from your other works like “Come On Home” and “Not My Own?”

A) “Set in Stone” is different from my other songs in the fact that I wrote it about others, not from my personal experience. I am not engaged, so we had to write from the standpoint of being excited for my friends and family who are! “Come On Home” and “Not My Own” are both very personal and I could write from the vulnerability of being in those positions. However, “Set in Stone” is a song that I look forward to feeling from a different perspective when I get engaged down the road!

Q) What has been the fan response to “Set in Stone?”

A) My fans are used to hearing me write sad songs, so I think it was refreshing for them to hear a happy and upbeat song. It has been so nice to read all the messages from brides about how they are adding the song to their wedding or bachelorette trip playlists!

Q) What is the message you hope listeners take from “Set in Stone?”

A) I hope that people listen to this song and realize that love is out there and it’s worth the wait. I’ve learned from writing this song that fans have had similar experiences with getting rings from past boyfriends and upgrading to more sentimental rings from their fiancés!

Q) Thinking back, from your very first single to now with “Set in Stone,” what would you say you’re the proudest of?

A) I am most proud of my vulnerability. When I think of the first single I released, I was releasing pop music that I did not fully agree with the meaning of. I was thirteen years old writing and recording songs about heartbreak. Now, I am releasing songs that are vulnerable, raw and coming from a place of truth. Whether I am singing “He Would” about all of the heartbreak I have now experienced at twenty-four years old or celebrating real-life friendships and connections with fans!

Q) As an artist who is originally from Canada, you moved to Nashville to pursue your dreams, what is some advice you’d give to other aspiring artists?

A) Be authentic and start hustling now! The music industry is a grind. No one is going to work harder for your craft than you, so it’s important to get out to the writers’ rounds, network, promote your music and constantly be working toward furthering your career. It’s not very often that opportunities just present themselves without working for them! And be authentic. There are so many people trying to become professional singers, and the world already has Carrie Underwood and Adele. So, it’s important to find what makes you different and let that show!

Q) What can fans expect from you next? A new single? Maybe a tour, how can they stay in the know?

A) I will say that I do have more music coming in the New Year…more than just a single! I have a long list of goals for 2024 and with that I hope to go on tour! Q) What would you like to say to the fans and supporters of your work?

A) Thank you, thank you. Without the fans who stream the songs, like the photos, buy tickets to shows and share the new music, I wouldn’t be able to continue chasing this dream. There is nothing that makes me happier than hearing how fans connect to my music, old and new.
