Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) Urban Pop ✨

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “WIG!”

A) “Wig” was an idea I had written in my notes for years prior to bringing it to life. I loved using the word “wig” when talking to friends in conversation and I felt it deserved a song. By adding Lemon from “Canada’s Drag Race and Cakes” on the record, it was just the cherry on top!

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I think the biggest driving factor in any song that connects to people is the emotion that they feel when listening to it. When I write music, I hope to bring out the best version of myself. I want to feel like a confidant bad bitch, and I hope that people feel that way when they listen to “Wig!”

Q) This is such a sweet way to honor Pride Month. What kind of response have you received from the LGBTQ community?

A) The amount of support that I have received from Wig so far is insane. There are new TikTok’s that go up every day, TikTok even added the song to the Pride playlists. So many publications have covered this song and it just reached 50,000 streams on Spotify and over 150,000 views on YouTube. I feel so grateful.

Q) Sally Tran directed the video for “WIG!” How does it play into the message behind it?

A) Sally really took the reins on this music video. Her idea was to do a one-take on 16 mm film with all choreography. I loved it as soon as I heard the idea and was all in! She was definitely the brains behind the operation.

Q) Proceeds from the song go to the Transgender Law Center. Why is this cause so close to your heart?

A) It’s important that, since this release came out in honor of Pride month, that it benefited the cause. The proceeds from the NFT are being donated to the Transgender Law Center.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) I am a very melodic person. Everything starts with melody for me, and I usually end up freestyling lyrics from there. I can write music anywhere. Lately, I’ve been writing songs in my sleep. Anytime, anyplace!

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I am heavily involved in anything that is released by myself sonically. I vocal produce and engineer myself.  Any vocal arrangements you hear were created by me on the mic. When it comes to the production, I’m very selective in the type of tracks I move forward with as it has to inspire me creatively to write a top line. Everything is recorded in my home studio.

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) Stay tuned!

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) I performed the national anthem at Madison Square Garden on numerous occasions to a sold-out audience. Looking out into a sea of people is the best adrenaline rush I’ve ever felt in my whole life when I’m on stage. I can’t wait till one day I can go back and perform my own music there.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Drake!

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) Listening to a lot of Spanish music at the moment. [winks]

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Social media is the best way that I have connected to the Alus Army thus far. I go live with them on Instagram every single day. It helps me understand who my audience is and grow a stronger bond with them. Without social media none of this is possible.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thank you for supporting me now. I love you. I’m excited to see where this journey takes us.
