Interviews
Amber Benson – Supernatural
Q. What are some of the recent projects that you’ve been working on?
A. I just finished a Christmas movie for Lifetime called Three Wishes and did an episode of the TV show “Supernatural.” Plus, Christopher Golden and I just finished work on a novella for Subterranean Press called, “The Seven Whistlers.”
Q. Recently you appeared on the show “Supernatural,” what drew you to the role?
A. Basically, they asked me to do it! Just kidding. I thought it would be fun to play a vampire. I always wanted to vamp out and she was a good vampire, so I thought it was perfect for me.
Q. The film Lovers, Liars and Lunatics is a film you’ve been working on. When can viewers expect for it to be released? And where did you get your inspiration for the film from?
A. The film will be finished and available online at www.loversliarsandlunatics.com come mid-November. I love screwball, dark comedies–so the impetus came a little from Preston Sturges and Noises Off, a little from every twisted black comedy I’ve consumed over the years.
Q. Why should viewers take the time to check out the movie?
A. It’s funny, but it’s also laced with blood and sex – which is always a good combo as far as I’m concerned.
Q. Do you have a really memorable moment from filming?
A. On our first day of filming, our First AD drove the grip truck into a tree and ripped the roof of the truck off. That was pretty memorable–and expensive.
Q. What is it about the movie industry that continues to challenge you?
A. The fact that all these studio executives, with all this money and influence, can’t get it together enough to make a decent movie. Sadly, we have to go to Europe if we want to see good cinema.
Q. You’ve done writing, producing, directing and acting. Is there anything else you’d like to try your hand at that you haven’t yet?
A. Politics.
Q. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
A. I’m a book whore. I read anything that’s not nailed down. I also like to pay bills and do dishes. For some reason I find both activities to be very cathartic.
Q. Do you have a latest obsession? Are you into any particular book, music group, sport or activity?
A. I keep re-reading all the Harry Potter books. I just feel so happy when I’m in JK Rowling’s world. Makes my life seem a lot less complicated. I’m also obsessed with horror films – especially since it’s almost Halloween. All the horror cartoons and films on TV right now makes me a total Happy Camper.
Q. What would you like to say to your fans and supporters?
A. That I seriously have the best fans. Period.
