American Idol – Season 3, Night Three
By: Dustin Bradley
“American Idol” is closer to Hollywood week as we speak. With only two more audition weeks to go, I’m excited to see which talents will make it past Hollywood Week and advance on. So many great talents have already going through, so this season is going to be the hardest!
Kimmy Gabriela – Age 17; Lakeland, FL; This teenager grew up around music as she has a father who was a Hispanic artist that used to tour and had an album himself. She is here today to try and make a name for herself. Auditioning with “Let’s Hurt Tonight” by OneRepublic, her voice is soulful. She’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!
Amelia – 23; Phoenix, AZ; In the short snippet we saw, she was very talented and Katy loved her. I assume she’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!
Erin Kirby – 16; Jasper, GA; Another montage moment with Katy adoring her. She seemed pretty good, but it was a very limited clip of her. She’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!
Jordan Jones – 26; Scottsdale, AZ; This talented pianist is not only GOING TO HOLLYWOOD but he PROPOSED!!!
Lauren Mascitti – 27; Nashville,TN ; This talented songwriter is engaged to famous songwriter Shawn Camp, but she’s here to make a mark on her own and show the judges what she’s got. She’s auditioning with an original song that she wrote with her friend Renée Martin called “If I Can Lose You.” The judges like her song and love her storytelling voice. She’s of course GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!
Ryan Harmon – 24; Lamar, AK; This country boy is making a big impression on the judges with his incredible accent and charm. He is auditioning with an original which he hopes can make it onto the next Luke Bryan album called “I Knew This Would Happen.” The song is really good and his voice is really authentically country. The judges all really like him, but they all believe he shouldn’t be in this competition because they all believe he should fulfill his lifelong dream and move to Nashville so that he can write music. They give him an optimistic no because they want him to actually move. Hopefully, in-house mentor Bobby Bones, Host Ryan Seacrest or even judge Luke Bryan legit set him up with some Nashville talent because he’s fantastic!
Courtney Timmons – 22; Harris Neck, G ; This is an “American Idol” first. Courtney has not been screened by the producers, but Ryan takes a leap of faith and puts himself out there and convinces the producers to let her audition. Singing “Rise Up” by Audra Day, she was a little pitchy but was pretty good and for not being screened by producers she makes history and is GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!
Lauren Spencer-Smith – 16; Vancouver Island, Canada; Lauren is singing “What About Us” by P!nk. This teen is very talented! Her range is amazing. And her stage presence is actually really great for her age. She’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!
DeWayne Crocker Jr – 23; Pensacola, FL; A preacher kid singing a rendition of Bobby McFerrin’s “Dont Worry Be Happy.” All the judges love not only his voice but his arrangement of the tune. They all think he needs a little bit more emotions but his technique is very good. He’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD! The highlight of his audition though is his Lionel Richie obsessed grandma! Lionel serenades her while they share a dance and it’s very cute!
Dillon James – 26; ; This 26 year old has faced his fair share of struggles and has overcome them. Sober the past two years, he is inspiring and so incredibly talented. Auditioning with “Make You Feel My Love” by Bob Dylan. His voice has definitely impressed the judges. He’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!
Geena Fontanella – 27; Los Angeles, CA; Geena is singing an original called “I Don’t Want You Back.” With the fashion style of Billie Eilish and a musical styling so cool, the judges all love her! Her song is so catchy and would be a Top 40 hit if it was on the radio. She’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!
Jared Lettow – 26; Santa Barbara, CA; This California yodeler is a great at it, but the judges don’t think he’s right for this competition.
Shannon Gibbons – 20; Bellport, NY; In her twenty years she has been riddled with depression and mental health issues and through the power of musical and mental health guidance, she’s going strong today. Singing “I’d Rather Go Blind” by Etta James, her voice is full of grit and soul and she lived up to the promise of the song! The judges all really like her. She’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!
Isaiah Grass – 29; Chicago,IL ; This model, actor, singer and influencer is a preformer that’s for sure. His voice is surprisingly good. The judges think he’s more musical theatre but he’s not Idol material.
Genavieve Linkowski – 20; Goodrich,MI; She’s a repeat auditioner after being there in 2018. Stricken with grief after losing her sister in 2019, she’s found her voice again. Her sound was emotional and powerful and all of the judges love her. She’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!
