“American Idol” is back for episode two of Season 3 on ABC. We are onto week two of auditions with three more to go and we have met some really talented folks already! Lets see what last week brought us in anticipation for tonight.

We begin with a cute little tribute to Luke Bryan’s favorite movie Forrest Gump. This was a cute and fun little scene that made me smile because of the judges being adorable. Next we begin our auditions.

Cyniah Elise – Age 17; Atlanta,GA; Singing “You are the Reason” by Calum Scott. This gospel singer is a beautiful singer. The judges love her. She’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!

Kay Genyse – Age 19; High Point, NC; She is a burst of energy! Full of personality and quirkiness! Singing “Mercy” by Duffy. The performance is full of performance, but isn’t the best show of her talents and the talents all acknowledge that. Luke gives her a no and when it comes to Katy’s turn she comes up with an idea for Kay to “sing for [her] life” out on the streets. The crowd loves it and lucky for her it works out because she’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!

Kyle Tanguay – Age 21; Rochester, NH; This is a male cheerleader who cheers for the Philadelphia Eagles. He is actually one of the only males cheering in the NFL! He brings his whole squad with him to help cheer him on. They give the judges a little cheer before Kyle gets to sing. Performing “Mercy” by Shawn Mendes, his voice is clean and poppy and he has some great qualities. He impresses the judges and gets a yes from all the judges and he’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!

Jovin Webb – Age 28; Gonzales, LA; Having lost his mother right after college, this musician from Louisiana is bringing the soul and blues to the judges. He sings “Whipping Post” by the Allman Brothers. His voice is so strong and raspy, full of amazing control and soul. Very powerful! All of the judges absolutely love him. Of course, he’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!

Claire Jolie Goodman – Age 16; Mount Prospect, IL; This musical theatre lover is talented and a singer in my world but not for “American Idol.”

Margie Mays – Age 26; Wilmington, DE ; MARGIE IS BACK! She is returning from last season after getting eliminated in Hawaii. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HER!! She’s so vibrant and full of pure joy! She is auditioning with her boyfriend Jonny. She performs “I Found a Boy” by Adele. She has vocally grown immensely. The judges adore her and the progress that she has made and they are gonna give her another chance so she’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD! I really hope she goes far this time around.

Jonny West – Age 23; Murrieta, CA; Margie’s boyfriend who accompanied her last year just as support and this year is taking a chance to audition. He performs an original song on piano with a rap breakdown in the middle. HES AMAZING! He’s crazy talented and honestly this competition is really heating up and it’s only week two! The judges all love him and Katy thinks that he might go further than Margie. He’s of course GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!

Sarah Isen – Age 20; Berkely, CA; She is one of twenty-six siblings due to her father who was a sperm donor and wanted to help out families in need and particularly LGBT families. She sings “If I Were a Boy” by Beyonce. AN ALTO! Her voice is beautiful and not one we really have in the industry right now. She’s insanely talented and she really found a way to make the song her own and it was truly amazing. She’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!

Eliza Catastrophe – Age 28; Spokane, WA; This “universal opener” of Spokane. She brings the judges some gifts and performs the original tune “Sardines.” Her voice is actually not bad but the song is so wild and nonsensical. She’s not moving forward.

Julia Gargano – 21; Staten Island, NY ; This songwriter was inspired by Catie Turner and Alejandro Aranda and is performing an original called “Growing Pains.” The song is absolutely beautiful. She’s a songwriter through and through! Her melody and her lyrics are honestly enchanting. If she continues on and goes far than she is sure to be along the likes of Catie and Alejandro! SHE’S GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!

Treble Soul (Hannah Prestridge & Curt Jones) – Curt is 23 and from Rockdale, TX. Hannah is from . This married couple performs under the name Treble Soul, but for now they are auditioning separately. Curt sings “Help Me Hold On” by Travis Tritt. His voice is good but it’s a very generic country and the judges like him but not quite as much as his wife. Hannah sings an original song entitled “Day to Day ” inspired by her relationship to her husband and to her opioid addiction that she suffered through. Now a year sober she’s ready to move on and share her story with the world. Her song is powerful and her voice is full of story and pain. The judges love her and they love them as a team but only one can make it to Hollywood and that is gonna be Hannah. So, she’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!
