Ashley – America’s Next Top Model
Q) Who is your favorite designer?
A) This year after watching Fashion Week, I think it would definitely be Gwen Stefani for L.A.M.B. I think she absolutely rocked it this year! She was right on with hot pants and high heels. She had a lot of color and she’s actually one of my favorites.
Q) Why did you decide to apply for the show?
A) In all honesty, I was watching one of the last seasons and I was joking with my boyfriend. I said I could make it to the house. I went down to my first casting call and before I knew it I was living in the house!
Q) What was it like meeting Tyra Banks?
A) First off, when I first met her, she looked like she had stepped off of a page in a magazine. She looked absolutely beautiful and stunning. She was incredibly gorgeous and you can really tell that she is very tough love. She definitely knows what she wants out of you, she’s going to look out for you and she really cares about what happens to you from here on out. She handpicked all of us. She deserves a lot of respect for what she does.
Q) Why do you think the judges chose Sarah over you?
A) I don’t know. When I went into the competition I told myself that, if and when I was eliminated, it was because I had learned and had gotten everything out of this experience that I needed. It would be because they would feel that I would be okay in the modeling world with all of the knowledge I had received. Keeping myself positive, I think I was average since it was my first casting call (which is better than being poor) and that maybe they thought Sarah was more of a diamond in the rough. That’s what I’m telling myself.
Q) What was your one-on-one like with Tyra?
A) It was incredible! I loved her shoes! It was a lot of fun and she’s really a great lady. I had a lot of questions that I wanted to ask her and I still have more that I would like to learn. You have to respect her opinion after all of the shows she had done.
Q) What did you like about living in the house?
A) I liked the pool! That pool was awesome! It was so nice to be able to sit out there and chat with the girls and be ourselves. A lot of us were women that didn’t have a lot of women friends. We had strong opinions and they had no qualms about saying anything. We had no problem hanging out with each other so it was a lot of fun sitting down with those girls and being so open and in such a beautiful in relaxing environment. None of us had ever seen a place like this in our entire lives. It was incredible!
Q) Who do you plan on keeping in touch with?
A) Hopefully, everybody! We all had a really great time together. Of course, I loved Kim and Bre. Ebony and I are actually pretty good friends. I think I am going to try and keep in touch with every girl that I met there. I have never met a group of girls that I got along with quicker and been so open with in my life. I told my boyfriend that they had to pick girls from all across the country just to find girlfriends. We’re just so open with each other and we all got along so well.
Q) What are you going to do now that you are no longer on the show?
A) I am going to model! I’m going to do my thing and go to castings. I’ve been working on my portfolio and been in touch with more designers. I like the whole dressing people up and stylists. I’m going to keep on this track. A lot of people thought I’d pick up acting, but I love to be in front of the camera and transform who I am without makeup. It’s just so much fun for me and so natural.
Q) You noted that you have a “pretty gene” in your family. What are the other qualities that you possess that you feel would have made you a top model?
A) I am a fat girl gone skinny. My pretty gene just came into effect. It’s a running joke in my family because a lot of us look like a celebrity. Someone will come up to us and say something four or five times a day. It’s an inside joke. We’re very humble people. Not every model is going to be beautiful in person. They may be beautiful in print, but besides that I love fashion! It is just so fascinating!
Q) Who do you think will win?
A) I’ve got my favorites, but I’m not telling anyone! I don’t know anything either. There is no way I’m letting any body in! I’m routing for my roommates. I love those girls! I’m actually routing for everybody! They were all so beautiful and so incredibly talented. You never know who is going to take a horrible photo or mess up. You just never know who is going to win. I just can’t wait to see!
Q) What is your most memorable moment from being on the show?
A) The funniest time was the limo. They kept us in the house for a week and then let us go to a Life & Style party and hang out and have fun. That limo ride back to the house was the most fun ever! I know girls got crazy and were making out. We were just all laughing and being happy. We just got the chance to be ourselves!
Q) What would you like to say to your fans and supporters?
A) I never believed I’d have a fan in my life so thank you so much for thinking I could succeed. You don’t understand how important it is in life to have someone support you and think that you’ve got a good chance of making your dreams come true. I never thought I could be a part of it. Those people provide strength for me, I want to thank them very much.
