Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I would describe my sound as country with 2000’s pop/punk and new age pop/rock sprinkled in. I’ve always found myself gravitating toward those styles of music and knew I could incorporate those elements into my own music.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) From a young age I fell in love with bands like Aerosmith from my dad, and country artists like Rascal Flatts and Tim McGraw from my mom. I had every Flatts record and would listen to them endlessly trying to sing like Gary LeVox. Once I got to high school my inner emo came out and I found bands like Blink-182, A Day to Remember, and Memphis May Fire. Put all these influences into a melting pot and you end up getting my sound.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Bring it On Back.”

A) I wrote “Bring it On Back” with my good friend Mason Thornley in the summer of 2023 wanting to continue the story of “Leave Like That.” What happened after she tore out the drive? Is there any chance of saving the relationship? There were so many questions that were answered, while still leaving the thought of her turning around up in the air.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I think the fans really gravitate towards the “sad/happy” element of “Bring It On Back.” The lyric content is obviously about a guy missing a girl and wanting her to come back, but the music makes it feel lighthearted with more of a wishful thinking element. The song’s energy is enough to help anyone move on from a heartbreak.

Q) What makes it the perfect follow up to “Leave It Like That?”

A) “Bring It on Back” is the perfect follow up to “Leave Like That” because it’s an actual continuation of the relationship’s story.

Q) The video for “Leave It Like That” was directed by Sam Aldrich. How did the two of you flesh out the idea for the concept of the video?

A) Sam did an unbelievable job directing the “Leave Like That” music video. I told him multiple times throughout the shoot that this would be the most cinematic video I’ve ever done thanks to him. He took my original storyline concept and elevated it to the next level, really nailing the vision.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) My favorite part of the songwriting process is the song’s melody so I’m always the guy in the corner of the room humming under his breath until someone’s ears perk up. 9/10 times there will be a groove that my co-writers and I have started on the computer playing in the background while we write. I feel it lets me experiment and think of melodies I might not think to try with just an acoustic guitar.

Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) Matt Geroux is the mastermind behind my sound. When I came to him in the Spring of 2023 and told him the direction I wanted to take my music, he was all in. We feel like teenagers again making music in our bedroom and I think fans can hear how much fun we’re having creating the music.

Q) With “Bring It On Back,” Leave it Like That” and “Way Too Much” out, will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) You guessed it! We’re three songs into a seven-song album due out later this summer.

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) Festivals are always a favorite of mine because it gives acts like me a chance to be heard by a much larger fanbase that are there to just enjoy music and make new favorite artists.

Q) Which song(s) do you love to perform for a live audience?

A) I love to play every song of mine live, but I have an unreleased song called “Running My Mouth” that is always a really fun one. It’s cool to see the couples in the crowd hold each other a little tighter during it.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I would love to get the opportunity to collaborate with Tyler Hubbard. He’s one of the people I looked up to in the early stages of my career. Watching him made me believe that I could accomplish those dreams too, so I’d be a dream come true if our paths crossed one day.

Q) What artist/musician are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) Right now, I’m listening to bands like The Band Camino, Nightly and The Wldlfe pretty heavily. I’m a huge fan of their songwriting and the nostalgic feeling it gives me while listening to them.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) To the fans, thank YOU for continuing to make my dreams a reality. I wouldn’t be where I am today without your continued support and I promise, this is just the beginning. I’ll see you on the road very soon!
