Q) What are the recent projects that you have been busy working on?

A) I am filming the 2nd season of “Sydney to the Max” on Disney Channel, so that will be keeping me very busy until February.  I am also in talks about another exciting project, but will see if we can make the dates work so will keep you posted.

Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I like to think of my sound as pop, fun, upbeat and great to sing along with.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Definitely Lady Gaga, Queen, Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “The Good Ones.”

A) My song “The Good Ones” came about as I am becoming more aware of who I can trust and who is loyal and consistent in my life.  Unfortunately, like I am sure everyone has experienced, many people cross your path and come and go, but the ones that stick and are always there, they are the good ones, and I cherish them and am so grateful for them.  This song is about them and for them.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I think it makes them reflect on who their good ones are too and it makes you realize that you don’t have to be friends with everyone and you shouldn’t let people’s judgments or actions affect you negatively.  When someone hurts your feelings in any way, you focus on the good ones and you instantly feel joy, gratitude and love.

Q) Will fans be able to see a video to go along with the song?

A) Yes, actually, I recently posted the official video and the lyrics video on my YouTube channel Ava Kolker.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) Actually no. I first come up with a concept I am passionate about that is reflecting a feeling or thought I am having in the moment and I start writing lyrics to it and expand upon it. Then, I meet with my two brilliant songwriters Francis Galluccio and Peter Zizzo and we start working on the music and collaborate in the studio on a beat and start pairing the lyrics to the music we come up with. We usually do a few sessions together until we come up with a song that we all love.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) Once we’re done recording the song together, then Peter and Francis produce it and get it ready to be mixed and mastered. Then, we were fortunate enough to have Miklos Malek mix and master “The Good Ones” for it to become the song you hear today.

Q) Will there be a full EP or album coming in the near future?

A) Yes, definitely. That’s the plan. I already recorded my second song and will be working on that music video prior to release and will continue from there. I couldn’t be more excited for the journey.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Wow! I would love to collaborate with Cardi B.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I love Lizzo right now because I love her music and it’s super upbeat. And I like Billie Eilish because she is just so unique and different.  Love her.

Q) We loved you on “Girl Meets World.” What did you take away from your experience on the show?

A) Oh my goodness, that was truly one of the highlights of my career. I was so little and was so lucky to be blessed with brilliant writers who believed in me enough to create the best character for me to deliver. I really feel like I learned from the best cast and directors at such a young age. It will always be an experience I look back at with so much happiness.

Q) What advice would you give to up and coming actors and actresses?

A) I would let them know to fasten their seatbelts and be ready for a ton of rejection.  Acting is a very tough business, but if you can learn to trust the process, focus on constantly improving your skill sets and always show up prepared to deliver your best then the few yes’s you get along the way make it all worthwhile. You could be one audition away from the role that changes your life forever. So, stay positive, believe in yourself and go for it with everything you’ve got.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) I think it’s very important to stay close to your fans, let them know who you are as a person as they usually only know you as the character you play. I like to try to inspire them and to cheer them up and let them know what I am up to.  They get to know me a little better and I get to know them and if I can be the reason for a smile or two, then it is all worth it.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I would like to thank them so much for supporting me and being so loyal and full of love in all of their comments.  It means the world to have people be so positive towards me. It gives me strength to put in long days and work harder and try to be better all the time. I want them to know I love them all and will always be grateful that they give me the support to do what I love to do.
