Beckie King -In A Material World
Q. What are some of the current projects that you’ve been working on?
A. Currently I am in rehearsal for the Mark Goodman tap company and we’re performing at the Madrid Theater in April. Also, I’m working on a cabaret show here in Los Angeles at the Moulin Rouge. Other than that I am just auditioning for TV pilots and movies.
Q. What can you tell us about the premise for the movie Material Girls and about your character?
A. The premise for Material Girls is Hilary and Haylie Duff play the two leads, they are socialites that have inherited a cosmetic company from their father. He passes and they struggle to keep the company afloat and fight for what they believe in. My character Teanne is a soap opera star opposite the character in the movie Mic Rionn.
Q. What made you want to be a part of this project?
A. This project attracted me because of Martha Coolidge, the director. She is just such a wonderful person to work with and made the experience so much fun and easy and totally worthwhile. I just love to work so I wanted to be a part of it.
Q. How was getting to work with director Martha Coolidge on the film?
A. She was incredible, it’s like she understands you as soon as you get on set. She’s able to get you to do exactly what she wants, she’s so nice and just a joy to work with.
Q. A lot of well known actors worked on this movie. Do you think there was a lot of chemistry on set with the cast?
A. I worked with Brandon Beemer and he was incredible and we had the best time together. Our scene called for a lot of making out and it was fun and easy and no pressure and it was great.
Q. Do you have a most memorable moment from working on Material Girls?
A. Yes, it wasn’t filming but while we were having lunch Hilary and Haylie Duff came out with a young child that was disabled. They spent all this time with her and it was really, really beautiful, a beautiful moment. I was really impressed.
Q. Why should viewers take the time to go and see this film?
A. It’s a great movie for families and it has a wonderful message in the end.
Q. Well you’ve done still photography and acting. Is there anything else you’d like to try your hand at?
A. Good question. I am a dancer so I love dancing and choreography so I have done that. I have done still photography and I feel like I am doing exactly what I want right now. So, at this time there isn’t anything else I want to try my hand at.
Q. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
A. My spare time consists of dance classes and spending time with my wonderful dog, he’s staring at me right now.
Q. Do you have a latest obsession? Are you into any particular book, sport, music group or activity?
A. My husband and I are really into wine. We like to go wine tasting a lot, we’ve been up to Santa Barbara, Napa, it’s been so much fun getting to learn how it’s made and it’s just a lot of fun.
Q. Now that it is 2006, what are you most looking forward to this year?
A. I am most looking forward to working more this year. Not just in dance but in film and television.
