At the Dew Drop Inn we see Holden (Burkely Duffield) is talking to Charlie (Eden Brolin). She doesn’t seem happy to see him and questions him on why he has come to see her. Charlie tries to get rid of him, but Holden points out that after the attack at the cabin he had no idea whether she was alive or dead. He goes on to ask why she is in Fort Reed and why she needed a gun. At this point, Randy (Keenan Tracey) appears to ask Charlie who she is talking with and she then makes the both of them leave and closes the door on Holden. Holden isn’t ready to give up though and continues to call out to her from behind the closed door. Eventually, Charlie escapes through the back window of the inn when Holden won’t leave.

Willa (Dilan Gwyn) and Arthur (Alex Diakun) are at his house talking about Arthur’s work on rebuilding the machine. Willa doesn’t understand the need for the machine to be rebuilt, but Arthur explains that there will always be a danger of others gaining access to the realm and becoming corrupted by it as Arthur feels he himself has been corrupted. Willa appeals to Arthur to put the Realm aside and focus on the real world, but he says it is not that easy and leaves with his notebook.

Luke (Jonathan Whitesell) is awakened by noises upstairs and grabs a baseball thinking that it might be a prowler or perhaps the drug dealer he now owes money to. When he heads upstairs; however, he finds that it is Holden sleepwalking though Luke doesn’t realize that at first. He follows Holden out of the house and on a walk that takes him to the woods we have previously seen him wake up in several times over the course of the show. He finally lays down on the grass and Luke waits to see what happens next.

Over at Hollow Sky Tess Shoemacher (Erika Alexander) is speaking with a new investor Ken Sheldrake (Lochlyn Munro). He’s nervous, but looking forward to seeing someone called Lara again. Tess reassures him and leads him to a special room.

Holden wakes up finding himself in the forest but is shocked when he finds Luke waiting patiently for him. Diego (Oscar Camacho) is driving to Fort Reed when his car gets a puncture. He goes to the boot to grab the spare time and we see a dead body there presumably the owner of the car. There is no spare tire so eventually Diego starts walking.

Holden explains his sleepwalking episodes to Luke as well as his visions as they search for the Realm using Holden’s compass. Luke asks what Willa thinks of these episodes and visions and Holden replies that she thinks it is guilt or paranoia. Holden expresses his frustration that at first Willa only wanted him to remember and now she just wants to leave it all in the past. Luke points out all that Willa has been through and Holden is surprised that Willa revealed all that to Luke though Luke tries to play it off like maybe Holden told him and not Willa. Luke find something in the ground at the spot the compass indicated and they both head home to collect shovels

The Man In The Yellow Jacket (Peter Kelamis) and Ramon (Jorge Vargas) are out in the middle of nowhere burying his mentor’s body. Arthur is working on the machine and having some difficulties and drop some transistors on the floor as he goes into the next room to get himself a drink. We see that he is being watched by Charlie who is armed and hiding in the next room. She follows him but doesn’t shoot. Arthur hears a dog barking and goes to the dining room only to find the door to outside open. He calls out for Willa thinking she might have come back. Eventually, he heads back to his workshop and Charlie follows him again moving closer to as he sits at the work bench but in the end she cannot pull the trigger and leaves.

Holden (who has gotten dressed) and Luke head back to the mysterious spot in the woods where the compass indicated this time with shovels and a thermos. Luke asks about the fallout from Holden quitting and he answers saying that their dad was disappointed. Luke says that the prospect of working with Holden was the happiest that he has ever seen their dad except for perhaps Little League and compares Holden quitting Little League to his quitting the job at the warehouse. Holden feels frustrated as he cannot tell his father about his powers and what really happened to him.

Luke again tells Holden he should make use of his powers, which Holden scoffs at. Luke suggests that Holden wouldn’t help him out in the way that he currently is. Luke then points out the black eye he got from trying to help Riley and the two begin arguing about Luke’s relationship with Riley. Luke wonders why Holden couldn’t have used his powers to scare the drug dealer. They keep arguing and we shift to them digging around the rope as they continue to snap at each other.

The Man In The Yellow Jacket and Ramon are still digging the hole to bury the mentor’s body and have a back and forth about how deep the hole needs to be. TMITYJ throws him a shovel and starts pulling the body towards the hole while talking about the direction Hollow Sky is going in. The Man In The Yellow Jacket believes that Tess Shoemacher has corrupted the ideals of Frost and is only interested in making money. Ramon asks what he is going to do. He replies he isn’t going to run and suggests he is going to kill her.

An old woman (Marla Gibbs) answers the door to Diego who asks to use her phone and for some water. Luke and Holden have been digging for quite some time and Holden asks if there is a chance of his parents getting back together, but Luke says that seems unlikely given how they were while Holden was in his coma. He tells Holden how bad things gets and expresses his hope that the two of them can be happy even if it is with other people.

They switch positions and Luke is annoyed when he realizes that Holden has finished all the water and rejoins him in the dig only to hit something solid. Holden immediately realizes that it is a freezer and that he has seen it before in his dreams and awake, prompting him to explain to Luke his panic attack/freak outs. Holden is becoming more and more rattled and Luke tries to calm him down. Holden explains the entire nightmare was Luke with maggots on his face, their house on fire and the world burning. That is why he wishes he had a normal life because he knows that it is his fault. Holden has lost his job, realizes that his relationship with Willa is on the rocks and vents his anger at Luke for wanting him to use his powers to help him reconcile with Riley. Holden continues to vent and Luke continues to console him until Holden makes a thinly veiled dig about his job at the café causing Luke to leave.

The old woman has fixed Diego a snack and pours him ice tea they make conversation until he asks to use her car and she refuses. She asks if he is heading to Fort Reed and Diego explains he is there to visit Holden Matthews. He calls him “very special” and says he is standing in the way of destiny.

She asks if he intends to harm Holden and Diego reveals that Holden has opened a portal to another world and that he is one of the beings from that world. He goes on to make it clear that others will follow and they will destroy the world that she knows. The old woman states that she is not afraid of death, but then Diego chillingly adds that those awaiting the Fields of Elysium won’t escape and explains that they will bring fire and destruction to the afterlife as well as this world. The old woman takes out her rosary beads as Diego continues his declaration and he then takes a sip of his drink and again asks for her car keys. We then see Diego in the old woman’s car heading on his way to Fort Reed.

Willa is doodling at the café when Luke comes up and presents her with a new coffee to try. She doesn’t like it so he hands over her normal tea order. She immediately notices his black eye and he tells her the story of taking over Riley’s debt with Jay the drug dealer. Jake says that the spirals Willa has been drawing may be representative of life’s journey at least according to his Religion 101 lecturer. Willa reveals that she is worried about Arthur especially after receiving a call from him about the earlier break in by Charlie. Willa clearly doesn’t believe there was an intruder and says that he has been calling her by her mother’s name recently. Their talk is interrupted by a text from Jay (Jake Croker) who has turned up outside the café, Luke goes out to meet him and Willa watches as Jay threatens him.

Jeff (Jeff Pierre) is now helping Holden. He asks if Holden can move the freezer with his telekinesis given his other uses of that power in the past, but Holden has tried and it doesn’t work. Jeff notices something on the freezer beneath Holden’s feet and Holden cleans it off and finds the words “Property of Edgar L. Abbot” on a sticker who neither of them knows. Jeff leaves to get a tool to open the pad lock and Holden takes a closer look at the lock but is transported to another place when he grips the lock itself.

He finds himself on a cliff and tries to climb up, but falls into the water below and sinks until he is transported into a star lined environment which transitions into some kind of palace with a person sitting in with their back to him. Holden returns to reality with Jeff concerned telling him that he stopped responding when he grabbed the lock and would not let go.

Diane Matthews (Romy Rosemont) is unlocking her door when Pastor Ian (Chad Willett) steps out of the darkness and surprises her. They talk and Ian reveals that Jeff accompanied Christine to the latest Helping Hands meetings and that he is somewhat suspicious of his motives. Diane offers to talk to Jeff but Ian declines and then asks if he can come in only for Diane to put him off and suggest a weekend away instead. She is clearly surprised when he suggests this weekend as the date for the getaway but eventually agrees.
