Q) You’re about to release your second album Waste and the single “Rat Race.” Has this raw and explosive sound to it that should make rap/metal core and even some punk fans, bang their heads. How would you describe your sound though?

A) We’re a metalcore band with some swampy elements and 11 essential vitamins and minerals.

Q) I hear a lot of metal-core and pop-punk as well as rap in your music. Who were your early musical influences?

A) I’ve always been a fan of pop music and rap/hip-hop. People can hate on it all they want, but there’s a reason those mainstream artists are as big as they are. I really liked bands like Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC and Nine Inch Nails growing up and then from there I got more into rap because of Linkin Park and Jay-Z just like pretty much every other twelve-year-old kid with daddy issues in the early 2000s.

Q) How did you come up with the name, Blessing A Curse, and was it inspired by something that happened in your lives?

A) It actually was created before I joined the band!

Q)  The single “Rat Race” is an interesting title for a song. What is the message behind the track?

A) “Rat Race” is essentially about how hard it’s been for us to break through as a band in the music industry. There have been so many times where I’ve felt like a lab rat lost in an endless labyrinth of bullshit and questioned if the piece of cheese we’re chasing after is even gonna be there at the end of the maze, y’know?

Q) This is the second album you’ve released on SMARTPUNK Records. What makes SMARTPUNK the right home for your work?

A) They generously pay for our recordings and distribution and they let us have full creative control of our sound! That’s all we’d really need from any label.

Q) I absolutely love the art work on the album cover. Where did that idea come from and do those unsettling images set the mood for the music on Waste?

A) Thanks! Visually we just wanted something that looks the way we felt for the last year or two. Something that says “my life is going to total shit and I feel trapped and I wanna rip my face off” which is the general mood of pretty much every song on Waste.

Q) You’ve toured the world with your EP Somewhere in Between It All as well as your first full-length album Satisfaction for the Vengeful. Can we expect a U.S. or world tour for Waste as well?

A) For sure, we’ll play wherever we can!

Q) What can fans expect from a live Blessing a Curse performance?

A) Sweaty, beer chuggin’, toe-tappin’ fun for the whole family.

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and why?

A) The Netherlands and Germany for sure. The hospitality and generosity over there and just the way the venues treat touring musicians is so unreal. California’s probably one of our favorite states to play though.

Q) You are slated to play SXSW, are you looking forward to it? Who else are you excited to see play there?

A) Yep, it was pretty fun! I really wanted to see Billie Eillish, but you had to have some kind of fancy VIP credentials to get into the Uber Eats venue where she was playing at.

Q) With the album coming out March 29th, what’s next on the horizon for Blessing A Curse?

A) Hopefully, opening for some bigger bands and getting on some good tours that’ll help our name get out there.

Q) What would you like to say to your fans that have supported your work?

A) Thank you so so so so SO much, and we hope you’ll give Waste a listen.
