Bob Hearts Abishola – Estée Lauder and Goat Meat
By: Sammi Turano
The episode opens with Tunde (Barry Shabaka Henley) and Olu (Shola Adewusi) preparing to have Bob (Billy Gardell) and Abishola (Folake Olowofoyeku) over for dinner. When they arrive Bob is on the phone talking business. Dele (Travis Wolfe Jr) is also there, but not Ebun who thinks she won’t be good company, according to Abishola. Everyone agrees this is the truth.
Bob finishes his call and gets into the details, as Tunde continues to build him up. He wants to help Bob out, but Bob isn’t sure. However, he wears him down.
The next day, Bob and Tunde get to work and try to keep it professional. Bob appreciates Tunde’s excitement, but it is short-lived because Tunde keeps finding things he wants to fix. Bob wants him to just do as he was told, but Tunde decides to do it his way when Bob goes to take a call.
Abishola brings Ebun (Saidah Arrika Ekulona) a package from her husband, which contains several of her personal items and his wedding ring. Ebun is upset, but pretends to be okay and stay strong, all the while insulting Abishola.
Bob talks to Goodwin (Bayo Akinfemi) about MaxDot updates and how Tunde is working on the floors. However, Goodwin is worried about hiring family and says how working with Kofo caused issues. The point is driven home when Christina (Maribeth Monroe) walks by cleaning.
That night, Bob is telling Abishola about his day when Tunde Facetimes him to talk about the work he did. He wants to fix everything, but Bob tells him not to do anything else. He hangs up and Bob wonders what he got himself into. This leads to him and Abishola talking about family.
Ebun then walks in to talk about the party she wants to have. She wants to invite everybody except Kemi, but Bob doesn’t want to go. This leads to another discussion between the couple about family.
Tunde works and dances when Bob and Goodwin walk in. They are both shocked to see him replacing the floor and making a mess. Goodwin wants him fired, which causes more issues with Bob and Tunde. Bob decides to let him go, upsetting him and leaving Bob with a mess and not knowing what to do.
Dele is shopping with Ebun and Abishola and gets admonished for talking. Ebun is rude to the staff as she gets supplies, claiming that she is being honored.
Later on at the party, Bob tells Christina about what is going on when Doug (Matt Jones) walks in, wanting to know if they will ever have a party without a Nigerian theme. Bob tries to talk to Olu and Tunde, but they don’t want to hear it. Dottie (Christine Ebersole) tries to make the peace, but no avail. Christina just makes things more awkward by bringing up her own issues. This causes everyone to debate and Olu and Tunde to leave. Kemi (Gina Yashere) tells Gloria (Vernee Watson) the fighting makes up for the bad food.
After the party, Bob apologies to Abishola and Ebun. They admit they are on his side. Ebun then compares the situation to her own with her husband and announces that she ha no plans on leaving.
The next day, Bob goes over to talk things over with Tunde, but gets the door slammed in his face by Olu. She finally lets him in and the men have a long talk and make up.
The episode ends with all three men working together….despite some disasters.
