AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL, airs Wednesdays at 8 PM ET/PT on UPN
Q) Who is your favorite designer?
A) My favorite designers are Dolce & Gabbana and Christian Dior.
Q) Why did you decide to apply for the show?
A) I decided to go to America’s Next Top Model because I felt like I was model material and I wanted the experience. I just really wanted to see what it was like behind the scenes.
Q) What was the audition process like for you?
A) I didn’t have a video to send in. I was one of the girls that showed up to the audition and talked my way in to being on the show.
Q) What was it like meeting Tyra Banks?
A) It was like a life’s dream. I never thought I’d even actually make it at first. When I met her, I was like, “Oh my God!” I was so happy to be around her. I really do believe that she is a very sweet person. It was a life long dream come true.
Q) What did you learn most about modeling from the show?
A) I learned most about modeling is that you should always be self-conscious of your attitude, your personality and how you are coming off to people. I learned a lot as far as that you should always focus on the camera. You should always look for the light. You should be very self-conscious of how your face is looking and how your poses are coming off. I learned a lot as far as that aspect. Over all, for me, it was mostly about my attitude. I learned that I should always keep a good attitude and not let anybody know how I am feeling on the outside.
Q) You said Tiffany was like a sister to you. Who else do you plan on keeping in touch with from the show?
A) Everyone else, I loved them (whether they believe it or not). After all this stuff was said and done, no one else was really worth keeping in touch with except Tiffany.
Q) What did you like most about living in the loft?
A) What I loved the most is the fact that it was a loft. I plan on owning one. I don’t want own a house once I make it even bigger. I actually want a loft. So, living in a loft was kind of like telling myself that this is what I am going to have in a couple of years. My room was the East LA room and it was so creative and fun. I think the room was the best part of living in the loft. We were borrowing clothes off the mannequin and having fun. The design and architecture of the loft was the best part because it gave me some ideas of what I want to do with my loft.
Q) We saw that you and Tatiana did not get along. Have you had a chance to talk and make up?
A) I would definitely say that we have not spoken about what happened and we haven’t made up. I don’t think that when I see her again, if I ever see her again, that I will be rude to her or anything. I tried to apologize to her on the show, but it didn’t work because she was still saying things behind my back.
Q) Do people on the street recognize you from the show?
A) Yes they definitely recognize me in Houston! They ask for autographs and pictures. They want to know the people who are left. I can’t tell them, but they still want to know! They recognize me from adults to children and I never thought that would happen. It is fun!
Q) What have you done since the show to change your attitude?
A) I’ve recorded every show so every day almost we look at the tapes. I’ve been really working on my attitude. I’ve really been paying attention to the show and not just looking at it one-sided. I am looking at it as if I was Tyra or if I was Jay and also I was looking at my attitude constantly all the time. Other than that, I know I can do everything else, but the attitude is what I am most working on to change.
Q) How do you have your hair styled now that you are no longer on the show?
A) My hair is not short anymore. It’s growing back and it is now a mini Afro version of what I had in the beginning. It’s all mine now and not weaved in. It’s still natural, but it’s a little mini Afro.
Q) Do you have advice for contestants who try out in the future?
A) My advice for the others is just to be yourself. Always try and smile and keep your head up. When competition is coming your way, whether it be in the world or on a reality TV show know that it is just competition and don’t let it hinder you or block you. Look at it as a stepping-stone and just step over it.
Q) Now that you are no longer on the show what are you going to do?
A) I am still going to pursue modeling. I don’t give up easily so that is still in my future. I want to be a fashion designer so if any modeling jobs come before I plan on going to school, then I’m going into modeling first. Then if it doesn’t, then I’m going to get my degree in fashion design and start my own clothing line.
Q) What would you like to say to your fans and supporters of you and the show?
A) To my fans and my supporters, I’d just like to say thank you so much for even believing in me. For all the people that thought I would win, thank you for even believing that. Sorry that I let some of you down, but thank you for being behind me 100%. I just say thank you and this is not the end of you seeing me!
