Bree Williamson – Mommy’s Little Boy

Q) What are the recent projects that you are working on?

A) I’m doing a show called “Private Eye” that shoots in Toronto. So, I’m going back and forth and doing that. I’m also keeping busy with pilot season.

Q) Please tell me the premise for your film Mommy’s Little Boy and about your character.

A) The premise is about a family. I’m a single mom of two boys with different fathers. I wouldn’t say that I’m the best mom in the world, to put it lightly. At the beginning, they kind of set up that I favor the older son more than the younger son and that is something that they struggle with. My older son drowns in the pool, which kind of sends me on a downward spiral of upping my drinking and my pill use. It does not improve my mothering skills at all.

Q) What drew you to be a part of the film?

A) It was an audition that I got, but also it was something that I hadn’t really done before. I hadn’t played this character before, which is always really exciting and fun as an actor. She was just really fun to play. It’s fun to play something really different from who you are in real life. It was exciting and fun to play her!

Q) Was there anything you added to your role as Briana that wasn’t originally scripted for you?

A) Briana was kind of already very complete, I think. We had talked about her makeup wise and wardrobe wise and what she would kind of be like. That was something that they were collaborative on because I didn’t wear any makeup. It was like I rolled out of bed for the whole movie because we wanted it to feel real and not have me all done up and drunk, which would have felt inauthentic. With every character I build a backstory that isn’t really written in the script in order to make her choices grounded.

Q) What was it like working with director Curtis Crawford and was there any advice he provided you that you took to heart during filming?

A) Curtis is so great. He is so laid back and so sweet and positive and just great for the whole shoot. With these types of movies, the schedule can be pretty intense. He was just really great. He was super positive and kind of just let us do what we wanted to do, but gave direction sometimes. He was a pretty laid back dude, which made it really great.

Q) What were some of your most memorable moments from filming?

A) Peter [DaCunha] was so great. He was the little kid who plays Eric, my son in the film. He was such a pro and so fun. IT gets super dark in moments…like really, really dark. And I have to say some really ugly things to Peter so in order to lighten things up during takes we would just joke around. He was just such a pro, so great and easy. He was just a really great kid. We shot in Otto and my hometown of Toronto was just four hours away so it was great to be there.

Q) What makes Mommy’s Little Boy such a good fit for the Lifetime Network?

A) It’s edge of your seat. I think the whole movie is very edge of your seat. You’re kind of like, “Oh no! What is going to happen next? Oh no! Is this kid going to be okay?” So, it will keep audiences entertained the whole time. They’ll want to know what happens next.

Q) Why will people want to take their time to tune in and see the film?

A) All the actors do a great job. It’s really well put together and if you love Lifetime movies, this one is very suspenseful.

Q) You are a part of social media. Are you looking forward to the fan feedback you will be receiving?

A) Yeah! It’ll be great. I want to know what people think.

Q) Is there anything else you want to be sure fans know about the movie?

A) Watch it and I hope they enjoy it!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thank you! Thank you for sticking with me and for watching. Thank you for supporting me. I think it is pretty amazing. I think the concept of me even having fans is pretty cool.
