Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) We describe it as American Rock N’ Soul. A mix of Rock, Soul, Blues, and Americana.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) A lot of my influences come from artists such as Van Morrison, Ottis Redding, Bill Withers and Kenny Loggins to name a few. A lot of bands and groups ear on influenced me as well growing up like Hall & Oates, Bee Gees, Eagles, The Police, Doobie Bros and CCR.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “I Just Wanna Love You.”

A) The song manifested when we were talking through the simplest thing to say to someone you are madly in love with. When you connect with someone on an intimate level it seems to give you supernatural insight; like reading each other’s minds or body language. Without even saying a word, you can look at each other and know what the other is thinking.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) That it’s about being so in love you can read each other’s minds. To be able to say, “I know what you’re thinking, and I’m thinking that too…”

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) It’s not a story driven video. We weren’t necessarily trying to display the story in the video. We wanted to do quicker close up shots of the band so our fans to get to know us better.

Q) Hal and Daniel, what is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) Me, personally, it’s never one way. Sometimes lyrics first and sometimes melody first, it varies. When writing with Hal, I tend to come to the session with a melody or a lyrical hook idea. Then we talk through where we think the song wants to go. Most of the time before the song even has been fully finished, I‘ll bring it to Brother Maven where we arrange, entertain new progressions, add needed bridges and turn arounds.

Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) As of now, a big one. We have a hand in all aspects of the production of every song we record.

Q) With “I Just Wanna Love You” coming out, is this a prelude for an EP or a full album?

A) In this musical climate we are focusing on releasing just a couple singles at a time for now. We may in the future put together a collection along with a few newer songs.

Q) You recently performed at the 23rd Annual Rockboat. Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) I think my personal favorite places are small listening room type venues. The Fox & Locke in Leiper’s Fork or Puckett’s in Franklin. They’re personal and up close. I think those are places where we have some of our best moments as a band and fans get a closer experience of our music.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I’ve been blessed to be able to collaborate with a lot of great writers, but if I was able to personally choose, I think a dream writing session would be with Bob Seger.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Not only is it culturally relevant, but it’s a great way to reach multitudes of people that would otherwise not know about us. I love being nostalgic, but social media is necessary.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) A simple, thank you. We love our fans, and their support is very much needed for us to continue to create music. We appreciate you!
