Byron Lawson – Fight or Flight
Q. What are some of the recent projects that you’ve been working on?
A. I’ve just finished shooting a movie of the week called Murder on Spec (it’s a working title). It’s about a serial killer praying on young rich wives. I play a detective named Weston who is investigating all the murders. It also stars Brooke Burns (ex-“Baywatcher”). The entire cast was great, we all got along and partied together every night. Crazy! Good times!
Q. Your film Snakes On A Plane will soon be in theaters. What can you tell us about the premise for the film and about your character?
A. Well, it’s exactly as the title states. This movie rides on two major phobias people have, snakes and planes. It’s about an assassin named Eddie Kim (played by me) that is attempting to kill a witness in protective custody by putting a lot of poisonous snakes on a plane. The FBI assigned to protect the witness is played by the amazing Samuel L. Jackson.
Q. What made you want to be a part of this project?
A. Once I saw that Sam Jackson was the star, I wanted in this project. Simple as that.
Q. How was working with director David Ellis on the film?
A. Awesome, he is a free flowing – kick ass director. I mean come on, if you look at his stuff, you will see that David loves action and doing crazy things!
Q. Do you have a most memorable moment from your time filming?
A. There was a fight scene that took more energy from me more than ever before, I’ve never been so out of breath shooting a fight scene. After the cut on one take I was on the ground, breathless asking for water (seriously). It was also awesome having my fiancée on set with me for the first time.
Q. Did you have to go through any type of training for your role?
A. I weight trained hard for two months prior to filming, cause I wanted to make Ryan Reynolds look fat in Blade 3.
Q. There are a few big names attached to the film. Do you feel that the cast had a lot of chemistry together?
A. There was a huge ensemble cast on this project and from what I saw, we all had a blast on set everyday.
Q. Why should viewers take the time to check out Snakes On A Plane?
A. Because everyone at one point in there day’s wants to shut off their minds and relax and just be entertained with a mind blowing violent roller coaster ride, and that is Snakes On A Plane.
Q. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
A. Simple things, just chilling with my close friends and driving my car (a Porsche 930).
Q. Do you have a latest obsession? Are you into any particular book, music group, sport or activity?
A. My latest obsession is helping my fiancée get everything ready for our wedding and getting our new home built on time (talk about time consuming). The Vancouver Canucks Hockey, Stanley Cup 2007!
