Q) How would you best describe your sound?

A) Every song sounds different, but my overall sound is vulnerable and intimate. Generally, my songs incorporate a variety of real instruments in addition to other sounds created online while I work with a producer on each song.

Q) Who are your Top 3 musical influences?

A) Right now my biggest influences are NF, John Mayer and Ed Sheeran.

Q) Tell us the story behind your current single “1200 sq ft.”

A) “1200 sq ft.” is about my childhood house and the experiences I had within those walls. I knew I wanted to write a song about my childhood, but didn’t know how to do it or what to say. I had the pleasure of working with Marc Scibilia on this song and he helped me create a storyline. The song incorporates a lot of different memories, but overall it is about being grateful and appreciative of the time I spent in that space.

Q) You also shot a music video for “1200 sq ft.” How did you develop the concept for it?

A) When I first realized I wanted to create a music video the concept was extremely general. All I knew was I wanted to depict my childhood through a child actor. After realizing this I connected with an incredible director who helped me brainstorm more details around this concept and create a storyline around watching the actor grow into the adult I am today.

Q) “1200 sq ft” is the title track off your latest EP. Since its release, what has been the reception to the new music from fans and listeners?

A) I was nervous when putting out this EP since conceptually and sonically it is a bit different than some of my earlier projects. The lyrics are still authentic, but the focus of this EP surrounds my childhood experiences and growth. In comparison, much of what I have previously released is about love and breakups. Despite this difference, fans have reacted extremely well to the project and have found a connection to the lyrics of these songs.

Q) What are some themes you explore on this EP?

A) I explore various themes throughout the EP and I hope listeners can connect with each song in their own way. Some themes I touch on are growth, healing, family, tradition and memories.

Q) I absolutely love the song “1 day you will” – I felt it had such a personal message. Do you have a song that is your personal favorite off the EP and why or even one that challenged you the most creatively?

A) Thank you! I’m glad you could connect with the song. My favorite is “1200 sq ft” because I was so vulnerable while writing it. I wouldn’t say that this vulnerability was challenging, but it sometimes felt a bit uncomfortable since writing it pushed me to think deeply about my childhood experiences, which I don’t find myself doing very often. We also incorporated a lot more live instruments into this song compared to my other songs, so it challenged me to figure out what direction I wanted this song to go in.

Q) How much of the 1200 sq ft EP was written from your own personal experiences?

A) 100%

Q) What do you hope lingers with listeners of this new EP?

A) I hope listeners realize that even if an experience wasn’t perfect, if they take the time to reflect on it, there is always something to learn or grow from.

Q) You have an upcoming hometown show in Nashville on June 3rd. Is there a possible tour in the works for this year?

A) You’ll have to wait and see! However, I will say that playing live and interacting with people who connect with my music is one of my favorite things, so I would love to do it more.

Q) If you could collaborate with anyone on an upcoming project, who would you love to work with and why?

A) I would love to collaborate with NF since he is so much of the reason I’m a musician. I relate to a lot of his music and respect him since he is so vulnerable and genuine in his music. I would also love to collaborate with NEEDTOBREATHE and Ed Sheeran.

Q) What would you like to say to your fans and supporters of your music?

A) Thank you so much for listening and connecting with my music; I can’t describe how much it means to me.
