Interviews
Curtis Harris – Haunted Hathaways
By: Lisa Steinberg
Q) What are the recent projects that you have been working on?
A) Right now, I’m focused on me doing events with NAACP because I got nominated for an award. I have been doing some Nickelodeon promos. I hope in the future to do some sitcoms or feature films.
Q) What is new on “Haunted Hathaways” this season?
A) For this season, I would say what is different with our show is that things have gotten crazier and there are a lot more messes. There are more pies in faces and more ghost abilities. Miles doesn’t change much. He’s always been the same. Every once in a while though he has to become a bad boy to save his family from danger.
Q) Was there anything you added to the role that wasn’t originally scripted for you?
A) I would say that I like to add flavor to Miles and every once in a while you would see me do a weird walk or snort when I laugh. I would do a quirky laugh and do different things to make Miles, Miles.
Q) You have great comedic timing! Is that something that comes naturally to you?
A) People have asked me that before and I don’t know. My dad is really funny and he taught me a lot. I have been doing standup. I was in the LA Improv and I went to Vegas, too. I do watch a lot of comedy shows because I love comedy shows. I think I got it just from nature, my comedic instinct.
Q) Who are some guest stars that you can tease we will see this season?
A) I can’t really tell you about the guest stars, but in the past we had Rixton come on stage in Season 2 for “Mostly Ghostly Girl,” which was an hour long special. It was really, really cool! We have had Ernie Hudson from Ghostbusters and Baron Davis. We have a lot more in store for Season 2!
Q) What have been your favorite scenes to film?
A) I would say “Mostly Ghostly Girl” because it was so fun to shoot. Another one was “The Haunted Thundermans.” We got to go on The Thundermans set and I was PT Boy! I had a suit and everything. That was really fun.
Q) Is there anyone you wish you had more scenes with this season?
A) No, I think our writers do a really good job of balancing all the scenes in episodes. I think they do a great job of doing that. I think when it is Miles’ time to go and save the family or his time to put in a quirky joke in there he will go for it. That’s what I love about our show and Miles. It’s not like he pushes too much and he’s not left out either.
Q) How does it feel to be recently nominated for an NAACP Image Award?
A) I can’t express the feelings that I have, but it means the world to me. I didn’t start acting to win an award. When I found out that I got recognized for the work that I do, it definitely was a huge plus! I get to do what I love and I get an award for it? It’s amazing! I love it. I love it so much. I’m very grateful for everyone who has been supporting me since I was three years old, including my family. I thank the NAACP for nominating me and the fans.
Q) You are a part of social media. Do you enjoy the instant fan feedback you receive?
A) I think social media is huge these days. I like social media because I love getting to connect with my fans and I love it when they come back to me and I get back to them about the episodes. They tell me how they are and how funny Miles was. I like to see what they have to say and I’m very thankful for all of my fans. T
Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you?
A) Thank you for all the “Haunted Hathaways” fans for supporting the show. My Twitter and Instagram are @TheCurtisHarris
