Cassi Thomson – Left Behind
Q) What can you tell us about the premise for Left Behind and about your character Chloe?
A) The film captures the chaos after the event of the rapture. Rayford Steele (Nicolas Cage) and Buck Williams (Chad Michael Murray) are on board a flight when it hits and my character (Chloe Steele) is on the ground. Chloe is a very strong, independent woman who really takes charge in this event. She was a lot of fun to bring to life.
Q) What made you want to be a part of the film?
A) Having the opportunity to work with Nic Cage and Vic Armstrong is what really drew me to this project. They’re both such incredible men and working with them was everything I hoped it would be.
Q) Is there anything that you added to the role that wasn’t originally scripted for you?
A) I did do all my own stunts, which wasn’t originally planned. I owe that to Vic Armstrong.
Q) Since this was your big screen debut, what kind of advice and guidance did director Vic Armstrong provide?
A) He was the perfect director to have for this film. Given his action background, he understood exactly what to do and how to do it in the best way possible. I felt very safe working with him, which is obviously very important when you’re doing stunts.
Q) You got to work with veteran actor Nicolas Cage. What did you learn and take away from your experience working with him?
A) Working with Nicolas Cage truly was a dream come true. He made my job so much easier. I was able to sit back and just enjoy the ride.
Q) What was it like doing your own stunts and what scene was the hardest to film?
A) I did almost all of my own stunts in the film. My favorite stunt was the scene I did at the top of a 400 foot bridge. I free climbed it and was harnessed in at the top. Once I was harnessed in, they brought in a helicopter with the camera operator inside and it was circling me. Such an amazing experience to be a part of!
Q) What do you think it is about the film that will draw in audiences?
A) I think there is something in it for everyone. Not only do we have some great action sequences, but there’s also a great story behind it all.
Q) What is your latest guilty pleasure? Are you into any particular book, music group, sport or activity?
A) For whatever reason, I’m very into the TV show “Chopped” on The Food Network. I watch it every week!
Q) Why is it important for you to connect with fans through social media?
A) Without my fans – I’m out of a job! I want them all to know how much I appreciate their support. It really does mean everything.
Q) What projects are next for you?
A) I just did another film with director Vic Armstrong in Atlanta, Georgia called The Sunday Horse. It brings you inside the world of English show jumping. Based on the true story of a woman named Debi Connor, played by Nikki Reed. It also stars Ryan Merriman, William Shatner and Ving Rhames.
