As morning comes, Abby O’Brien (Meghan Ory) calls her ex-husband Wes Winters (Michael Karl Richards) to discuss their custody dispute. Unable to get Wes to reconsider, Abby storms into the O’Brien family kitchen after hanging up with him. Her brother, Connor (Andrew Francis), criticizes her for making things difficult for her custody battle by bringing the kids back to Chesapeake Shores. When asked if she has a plan, Abby declares that she is thinking about moving back to Chesapeake Shores full time. Despite Nell (Diane Ladd) and Mick’s (Treat Williams) excitement at the news, Connor thinks it’s a horrible idea.

Abby attempts to write a legal document for her custody battle, but soon becomes frustrated with Connor’s unending advice. After Abby leaves, Mick asks Connor if he wants to play basketball and he hesitantly agrees. Mick and Megan (Barbara Niven) commiserate over their kids lack of interest in spending time with either of them. Nell asks Megan to drive her to her doctors’ appointment and Mick asks Megan to find out what is going on with his mother’s health. Mick shows Bree (Emilie Ullerup) one of his recently vacated cottages and offers it to her, reasoning that the seclusion and quiet will be good for her writers’ block. Bree; however, isn’t sure that she’s capable of overcoming her writers block. Abby goes to visit her ex-boyfriend Trace Riley (Jesse Metcalfe) and he apologizes for attempting to confront Wes the day before. Abby compliments him for always having her back, but she reminds him that she needs to put her kids first. When he brings up their kiss from the other night, Abby claims that it was a mistake. They agree to try and remain friends.

Back at the cottage, Mick and Bree talk in the backyard. Their conversation is interrupted when Jess (Laci J Mailey) shouts over to them from the B&B next door, excited by the prospect of Bree being her next door neighbor – much to Bree’s annoyance. Later, Mick goes to see Trace and asks about his situation with Abby. He tells Mick that Abby told him that she was moving back and Mick says that it’ll be good for her and the kids. Trace tells Mick that Abby has been ignoring a part of herself and tells him about the time that Abby convinced her high school to paint a mural on the back of the school. Though people rarely went back there, Abby believed that she could make something beautiful. Bree goes to visit Jess and they have a heart to heart about their struggles with their mother. Bree tells Jess that she should try to make an effort with her, but Jess ignores the suggestion.

Mick asks Megan about Nell’s doctor visit and she says Nell wouldn’t let her go back with her to see the doctor. This frustrates Mick, who demands that he needs to know what is going on with with mother. Megan says that she doesn’t like the way he talks to her, but this argument is interrupted by Mick’s cell phone ringing. Abby and Connor discuss the upcoming custody battle with Connor using his law school education to come up with a plan. Connor tells her that moving back to Chesapeake Shores and spending more time with her ex-boyfriend will look bad to the court and Abby gets upset and storms off.

Connor and Mick play their pickup basketball game. Trace stops by and Mick asks him to join them. Trace easily beats Connor, but Connor gets frustrated and pushes Trace to the ground. Mick confronts Connor, but he storms off. Bree shows Abby the cottage and Bree confesses that she’s considering moving into it for the summer. During their conversation, Bree also confesses that she’s having problems with her boyfriend back in Chicago and that she wants to give up playwriting and write a novel. Driving home, Mick asks Connor what is wrong and Connor confronts him about his frustrations. He questions the real reason that he brought the family together and doubts that it will fix their family’s problems. Mick tells Connor to go back to New York if he’s so unhappy and gets out of the car.

Nell meets Mick and Megan at Sally’s Restaurant and she tells them that the doctor has said she’s going to be fine. She’s determined to spend her remaining time with her grandkids and doesn’t want her health to be a barrier to it in the future. Mick suggests that she get a second opinion, but Nell refuses. Trace gets a phone call and finds out some good news. The person on the other end makes a suggestion, to which Trace says it wouldn’t be good for either of them.

As the plumbing in the B&B is being fixed, Megan compliments Jess on the work she’s put into fixing the place. As Connor says goodbye to the rest of the family, Bree and Megan go for a walk. Bree informs her that she’s staying for the summer and thanks her for teaching her how to type. When the subject of Jess comes up, Bree asks Megan to give Jess some space and notes that repairing their relationship is not an easy fix. They arrive as Jess drives away to take Connor to the airport.

Mick takes Megan to the plane and says goodbye to her. Bree pulls out her old typewriter and does a couple of typing exercises  before beginning her novel where the words coming easily to her. Trace goes to see Abby and they sit together on the porch, both attempting to ignore their feelings for the sake of their friendship. As night falls over Chesapeake Shores, Mick drives to see Abby’s mural and cries in the car as he admires it.
