Choose Me
By: Jamie Steinberg
David Baldacci’s quote on the cover of Choose Me is completely accurate to describe this book, “a whirlwind.” Taryn Moore has a lot going for her. She is smart and has the looks to match. Unfortunately, there is also a dark side to her. Follow her path into peril reading the exciting new book Choose Me by Tess Gerritson and Gary Braver.
Taryn is the most vocally outspoken student in her Romance course at Boston’s Commonwealth University. However, her world gets turned upside down though when the guy she’s loved since high school breaks up with her. Devastated and mentally triggered from the troubled relationship she has had with her father, Taryn sets her sight on her Lit professor, Jack Dorian, as he seems to be the only one who shares her opinions the ideals of “love” based on the course material. After constantly playing second fiddle to his wife’s successful career as a doctor, Jack finds himself entwined in a tryst with Taryn. What happens one night though when the police find her body at the base of her apartment complex? Was this a suicide or is it murder?
Choose Me bounces back and forth between the perspectives of those investigating her death, Taryn herself and the man she’s desperate to be loved by. Dorian has a motive as he’s in love with his wife and doesn’t want to ruin his marriage. Could the culprit be her ex-boyfriend who she was stalking? Maybe it was her best friend Cody who couldn’t take being in the friendzone any longer.
Gerritson and Braver do an incredible job of keeping readers on the edge of their seat. The audience certainly can’t tell where Gerritson begins and Braver picks up – and vice versa. “Just one more page” leads the reader to being halfway through the read as you heavily invest in Taryn’s spiral into mania and Jack’s tailspin post hookup.
If you’re looking for a juicy Summer read to keep you occupied while catching a suntan, be sure to pick up a copy of Choose Me. This thriller will leave you on the edge of your chaise lounge while melting the ice in your frosty beverage.
