Q) Before we start talking about your most recent single, “Circus,” I would like to dig a little further about the story of that young Chris, back in Nashville, listening to his father’s records and probably letting himself to be wrapped and influenced by all these different sounds. When growing up surrounded by all of this music, when did you realize that you wanted to do this and how did you imagine your future in the music industry?

A) It started at a young age, I would guess around thirteen or fifteen years old. I didn’t really imagine this in my future, but it was set in the back of my mind I wanted to sing and write music.

Q) In your most recent single “Circus,” we are able to experience an upbeat sound accompanied with a story that appears to be a metaphor of life itself, when writing this song, what was your main source of inspiration?

A) It was us, our band, on the road, setting up the equipment, traveling everywhere and being with great people while trying to put on one of our best shows.

Q) The reception of this song has been phenomenal. What kind of hand did you have in the production for the track?

A) We all sat in the studio and just kept listening over and over making small changes here and their until we knew it was ready.

Q) When bringing “Circus” to life, what were you hoping would linger with listeners or that you hoped they’d take away from it?

A) Anytime you release a song, you hope your fans will like it. This song let us hit our fans and also Jacob Bryant’s fans. They all seemed to love how we produced it and really loved our vocals on it.

Q) Certainly, being a songwriter comes with a lot of responsibility and effort. What is the part that you enjoy the most about the process of creating a new song?

A) Taking daily thoughts, emotions, and stories you hear and putting them on paper and creating a song to match how you feel about those things.

Q) All along your career you have collaborated with a number of other talented artists like yourself. Who would you most love to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I would love to work with Adam Duritz from Counting Crows. Adam was someone that made me want to focus on songwriting from a young age. The fact that the songs he wrote impacted me then and even more as an adult really shows the power of his lyrics and music. The other person I would like to work with would be John Mayer. I like John because he has been able to create music that influenced him instead of sticking with just one sound throughout his career. Also, I like writing the music first and then the words, and having his ability to create music would, I think, be an interesting writer.

Q) By being in this industry for nearly two decades you have certainly had the chance to witness the accelerated changes over the years. What advice would you give to those just entering the music business?

A) Avoid the music industry. No, just joking. You need a great support group, lots of networking and you need to be able to be very self-disciplined about life, money and all of the outcomes you will see.

Q) I know that your talent has gone across the borders and reached a number of places abroad. Is there a specific place or international venue where you would like to perform?

A) Europe – that would be great! We have never played over there yet and it would be amazing.

Q) Having built the successful career you have now and the numerous fans that follow your music, is there a big goal or special achievement that you are pursuing or would like to accomplish in the near future?

A) I just want to keep releasing music that means something to someone and for my fans to enjoy it.

Q) What would you like to say to all of your supporters out there?

A) Our fans, our supporters are fantastic. We still have folks that hired us fifteen to sixteen years ago and they still find us at venues and fully support us. Our fan base is really incredible and fun!
