Interviews
Christian Isaiah – Shameless
By: Madison Ruby
Q) We just saw the newest teaser for Season 11 of “Shameless” and found out it is going to be the final season. How do you feel about that and what are you going to miss the most?
A) I was excited to be getting back to work, but sad that this is the last season. I will miss everyone I work with, cast and crew.
Q) Without giving too much away, what can you tell us about Liam’s storyline in Season 11?
A) Hmm, you just have to wait and see. [laughs]
Q) What has been your favorite season to film?
A) That is a hard one, they have all been fun. I think nine might have been one of my favorites. Liam got the chance to show how smart he was helping Fiona (Emmy Rossum).
Q) What has been one of the most challenging scenes to film?
A) Season 8 the sleep walking scenes were challenging. One scene I had to work first thing in the morning, and it was like thirty degrees and in the scene Lip (Jeremy Allen White) finds Liam asleep outside in the wet grass. It was wet and freezing cold in Chicago. Also, another scene in that episode I had to sleep-walk down a dark alley with no shoes on and there were dead rats in the alley. While filming that same scene we heard gun shots and police helicopters flying over us. Very interesting night!!!
Q) If you could write your own storyline for Liam, what would it be?
A) I think my story line has been great, but I would probably have Liam doing more about his heritage.
Q) How did you feel about Liam’s storyline of finding his culture in Season 10?
A) That was really fun. I enjoyed the different looks when Liam was trying to figure out who he was.
Q) Why is it such an important issue that the neighborhood is attempting to be gentrified?
A) It is a big deal because it will raise prices and force out the people that have been living there because they will no longer be able to afford to live there anymore.
Q) What did you think of Liam finding his new relatives and then later walking away from them? Do you think he learned anything from his other half of family?
A) I think he learned that he is different from his family that he was raised with, but he knows they love him.
Q) What does Liam think of Frank, do you think he still believes he could be a good father to him or that he is just going to be as terrible as he always was?
A) I think deep down Liam always wants to believe that Frank (William H. Macy) can do better.
Q) What have you personally taken away from your time working on “Shameless?”
A) I have personally learned a lot from the cast as actors and learned that you don’t have to be born into a family to be a family. That’s what we are on “Shameless,” one big happy family.
Q) What would you like to say to fans and supporters of you and your work?
A) Thank you so much for your support and I hope that I can continue to inspire people to follow their dreams.
