Christie Laing – Once Upon A Time

By  |

Q) Have you found any inspiration in Robin Hood sources (books/film/etc) or are you taking her own approach to Marian?

A) Although it has been very interesting to work with a character that has so much history, I have been taking my own inspiration of Marian within the “Once Upon A Time” world. I must say though that Disney’s Robin Hood where Maid Marian is a fox is one of my favorite Disney movies. I re-watched it recently and fell in love with the story of Marian and Robin all over again.

Q) Is there anything that you have added to the role that wasn’t originally scripted for you?

A) There are lots of little details that aren’t in the script that I have in my head to give the character truth down to simple details like the jewelry the character wears. These are back stories I have made up to better understand the character; however, still remain relevant to the script and the ideas the writers have for the character.

Q) Fans of Regina and Robin have quickly became one of the largest couple shippers, how do you feel about fans cheering/rooting “against” your character, especially since Marian and Robin are the original iconic coupling?

A) Joining a show where the fans are so invested in each character is really a testament to the incredible writing and acting. “Once Upon A Time” has the best fans and it has been a blessing to join a show and play a character that is such a topic of conversation.

Q) What have you taken away from being a part of the “Once Upon A Time” experience?

A) Being a part of the “Once Upon A Time” experience has been incredible and like no other show I have worked on. I think the greatest rewards of this show have been the phenomenal cast and crew and outstanding fans.

Q) How will Marian connect with her new found son Roland and how will she adjust in this new world?

A) There will certainly be an adjustment! Time has not actually passed for Marian, but everything around her has changed. Missing some of the growing up of her son is going the be hard.

 Q) You’re a part of the social networking site Twitter, why is it important for you to connect with fans this way?

A) I really enjoy using Twitter to get in touch with the fans. The format allows you to keep in touch while on set or between scenes, which sometimes can be a very short timeframe. The shows are successful because of the fans and I like to be able to give back if possible with a peek behind the scenes or a “Happy Birthday” whenever I can. I also like to share behind the scenes photos and updates on my Facebook.
