Chyler Leigh – School Ties
Q) What are the current projects that you are working on?
A) Right now, my time is divided between “Reunion” and motherhood. That’s about it! We work so hard shooting the show right now. It’s generally fourteen-hour days, every day of the week, so that’s just about all that I have time for. Weekends are jam packed with family time.
Q) What is it about the show “Reunion” that made you want to be a part of it?
A) It just seemed so different. It was such an awesome script that when you read it it’s something that you haven’t really seen before. It’s exciting and drama filled, but at the same time it was fresh and new and different. We all felt the same way.
Q) “Reunion” just began airing, but what do you think it is about the show that has viewers hooked?
A) I think it is the fact that every episode is a new year so you get to feel a lot of change with the characters. You get to see the consequences for any decision that you make. You actually get to see what happens over the course of twenty years and I think it just makes it very unique.
Q) What is a typical day of filming like?
A) It’s very long! It’s usually long, but it is a whole lot of fun because we all get along so well. We have a really good time when we’re on set together. On the days where we are playing the 80’s characters, it’s usually around two and a half to three hours worth of hair and makeup to get ready to play the characters. It’s a lot of hard work, but very worth it.
Q) What is your most memorable moment from filming so far?
A) I can’t give anything away so I can talk about the pilot and the second episode. I think that there is not one particular moment that sticks out. We all just have such a really good time that we’re usually joking and playing around and acting really silly. There are a lot of fart jokes that happen for some reason! The cast is big on fart jokes so that happens a lot in between takes and what not. Everybody is making some sort of odd noise to throw somebody off.
Q) The cast has a lot of chemistry on screen. Is it that way off as well?
A) Oh yeah! Everybody hangs out and we have dinner over at everybody’s houses on the weekends. We go out around the town. Yeah, we have a lot of fun together!
Q) Since “Reunion” has a lot of 80’s music, do you have a favorite band or artist from the 80’s?
A) I would have to say that the Clash and the Ramones are really great. That type of music was really awesome. A Ha, they were great even though they were a one hit wonder. “Take On Me” was a really good song. A lot of the really sappy love songs, for some reason, really captured something about the time that I think was much different than today’s love songs.
Q) Which female character on the show can you most relate to with your own high school experience?
A) I had a much different high school experience because I was acting during high school. I was at castings most of the time so I didn’t get to really partake in a lot of high school events since I didn’t have the time to do so. I wouldn’t say I necessarily identify with any of them.
Q) Any hints you can give us on Carla’s evolution? So far, we really only know bits and pieces about her and more on the other characters.
A) The only thing that I can say is wait until you see what happens! It gets crazy!
Q) What do you do in your spare time?
A) I am a mommy so in my spare time we’ve been going to the aquarium, which is a lot of fun. I spend time with my family and we get together with the cast. My time is really divided amongst family and friends.
Q) What is your latest obsession?
A) I actually just finished the whole Left Behind series, there are twelve books in the series, and that was an amazing journey! To go through twelve books, it’s like “Reunion” because I get to see a lot of stuff happen in a short amount of time.
Q) What would you like to say to your fans and supporters?
A) I would say I hope that everyone enjoys the show. We do a lot of hard work and hope that it pays off and that you continue to watch every week so we get lots and lots of viewers and good ratings so that the show will continue on.
