Colin Ford – Under The Dome

Q) What are the recent projects that you are working on?

A) I was most recently working on “Under The Dome.” That’s on CBS, Monday nights at 10pm.

Q) How was your character Joe originally described to you?

A) The way I originally read and perceived Joe was that he was kind of a small town country boy who was not necessarily a mama’s boy, but his dad was a truck driver. So, that hinted to me that his father wasn’t around all his life so he hung around with his sister and did things for his mother. He was the man of the house. But he was more sweet-hearted and always had the best interest of his mother and his sister at heart.

Q) Was there anything you added to the role that wasn’t originally scripted for you?

A) I think every time I read a new character, I like to bring in not necessarily things of my own because I’m playing a character. But I like to bring in elements of my own to make the character more real for me to play. I like the idea of being noble and brave. Following the footsteps of what is going on in Chester’s Mill and following the footsteps of Barbie, I think that Joe brings out a little bit more of heroic behavior and charming behavior in season two that I had a really great time playing.

Q) Are there any upcoming guest stars you can tease about?

A) I don’t know about guest stars, but I can say that despite what has already aired we are going to be seeing some new cast members in Chester’s Mill. They may not necessarily be from Chester’s Mill, which is another mystery as to how anybody gets in or out of the dome. Somebody may be getting in or out through the dome this season.

Q) Is there anyone of the cast members that you haven’t gotten to work with that you hope to film scenes with or wish you had more scenes with?

A) I have really, really enjoyed this season. I have not had quite a bit of stuff with Rachelle Lefevre or Mike Vogel so that was a great experience this season. A lot of my stuff the first season was with Norrie (Mackenzie Lintz) and Angie (Britt  Robertson). This season I really enjoyed working with Michael and Rachelle. And I got to work with Dean Norris a little bit more this season. So, I think it would be great to work with Dean more in the upcoming season if we get a chance.

Q) What have been some of your most memorable moments from filming “Under The Dome?”

A) We shoot the show on location. A lot of us come to Los Angeles and other states. We’re all leaving our homes, packing up and coming to this place to film together. We try to make a really big effort to get together on Sundays or pick a day of the week to get together for dinner and just hang out. It can be difficult because some days you are working and other days other cast members are working. We just try to maintain a real good sense of family and that’s been the best part of working with everybody. We have a great time on and off set. It’s just a really tight-knit group.

Q) What do you think it is about the show that has captured so many viewers?

A) I think the show is really relatable to a lot of different audiences. It is a cool concept to be trapped under a dome. It’s just a really cool story to get to track. Then, when you dive a little deeper into it and see the storylines that we follow there are a lot of things that people can relate to in their own lives and get into while they are watching the show.

Q) You are a part of social media. Do you enjoy the instant fan feedback you receive when episodes air?

A) Absolutely! Live tweeting is one of my favorite things to do Monday nights. I just really enjoy getting to see the questions. If a fan isn’t understanding something, I can clarify it or if they are excited about something they just saw. With social media being the way that it is and all these other live events like Comic Con and meet and greets with fans, it has been a great time to hear their feedback and hear what they have to say about the show.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I appreciate them very much and I do what I do because I love it. To hear that they appreciate me or appreciate the work that I am a part of just warms my heart and makes me want to continue what I am doing.
