Q)What are the current projects you are working on?

 

A) At this moment, I am working on a project called To Have and To Hold that is a movie of the week for Lifetime. I’ll be playing a detective on the trail of a murder. It’s love, loss, deceit and murder. It should be fun! I love playing detectives and officers! That’s pretty much what’s on the go now and I have some things in the work. I usually don’t talk about things in the works until I’ve actually gotten the phone call that I’ve gotten the job.

 

Q)Please tell us about the show “Blade” and about your character, Robert Brooks.

 

A) I play Robert Brooks, who is Blade’s father. The trick about this is that you see me in Blade’s flashbacks. I believe they introduce me in the 60’s, when Blade has just been born, and then they jump me into the 70’s where my wife has just been bitten by a vampire. Now I have my son, who I am struggling to raise, because he is starting to show these symptoms and I am no quite sure what they are. I know they are not of an adolescent. I am dealing with the turmoil of how to raise my son now that I am a single father, blue-collar worker. It’s also about how I deal with these changes in my son because it’s something that I am not so comfortable with. I seek outside help to give me help to get the guidance of how to deal with this change in my life and my son.

 

Q)What made you want to be a part of the show?

 

A) There is not any man, woman or child that I know that wouldn’t want to be a part of a comic book. You can’t pass that up! Truth be told, my favorite comic book was Teen Titan. That was the one I really loved. I think it’s amazing just being a part of Marvel comics and getting to be a part of a project gone to film that is now being turned in to a TV series. I think, if you can’t play Blade, then you can sure play his daddy! I think that’s great because who wouldn’t want to be the father to a super hero? It’s just a great opportunity and I am happy to be a part of it.

 

Q)What has been your most memorable moment from filming?

 

A) It would probably be working with the character who played Blade as a child. His name is John and this guy, this kid, was so talented! You’ll have to tune into the episodes, but I love working with these young actors because they are so talented and they have no fear. They take direction so well. It’s just great to see them having such fun. He was just having a blast, knowing that he was playing Blade as a young child. He was funny and always making me laugh. He’s just a great kid.

 

Q)What is it about comics that makes it such a great time to come out in film or television?

 

A) I think with this topic at this time, if it’s an 80’s groove thing, kind of like films or shows now that relate back to the 80’s because everybody can relate to them. They are going to be shows that people can reminisce about. With regard to comic books, I think growing up as a child you have that imagination. A lot of these comics weren’t shows at the time, it’s kind of neat to see now how the writers and creators will envision and cast characters. Just to see the special effects and stunts, brings everything to life. Your imagination can do so much and I just think it’s just fun to see how it is these characters come to life. Spiderman, Batman, you name them! There is just so many characters that have been brought to the big screen and I’m all just very excited to see the villains and superheroes in real life.

 

Q)How does the show differ from the film versions?

 

A) That’s tricky! I’ve been busy so I haven’t had the opportunity to actually sit down and watch the show, yet. That would be hard for me to say. I am hoping that it is going to be along the same lines. For the most part, you are going to find fans that are going to be disappointed. Sometimes, they feel that it doesn’t portray the same way as the film. Other times, there will be fans that think it’s better than the actual film. The only thing I can truthfully tell you is that, as you know, Wesley Snipes was the original Blade in the series and now Sticky Fingaz is playing the TV version. I think he’s going to do a brilliant job with it and bring his own style and flair to the character, which will define him as his type of Blade. I don’t believe Sticky wants to play it like Wesley Snipes. He’s done his research on his Blade and he’s going to bring his skills, his comedic timing, or whatever it may be to his character. I just feel the audience won’t be disappointed.

 

Q)Why should viewers take the time to tune in?

 

A) They should watch because it’s Blade. It’s action packed, the writing (I believe) is great and I just think that the series is really good. it’s really good writing, great actors, a good storylines and what more can I say?

 

Q)What has been your favorite project to work on?

 

A) As for favorite projects, I have a recurring role on the TV series “The L Word.” What I really love about that show is that I get to play Pam Grier’s son. Pam Grier! She is hot and she’s my mom! I just have a blast working across her. It’s just so much fun working with Pam Grier. That’s Foxy Brown! What more can I say about this? I’m working with Pam Grier! One of my other best moments, was that I got to work with my real life wife on an episode of “The 4400.” We actually got to play husband and wife on the show. It’s not too often that you get to work across from your mate. It was just a lot of fun to actually work on a show together as husband and wife.

 

Q)What do you do in your spare time?

 

A) In my spare time, I enjoy golfing, I play a lot of softball and I enjoy barbequing. I enjoy entertaining and having my friends over for barbeque. I also enjoy spending time with my wife.
