Q) How would you describe your sound?

 

A) R&B

 

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

 

A) Donny Hathaway, Sam Cooke, Beyoncé and Mary J. Blige to name a few.

 

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Sometimes.”

 

A) I cowrote “Sometimes” with Sam Hook. It always an amazing experience working with him. The overall message of the song is if you love someone let them know. A lot of times we hold back and don’t tell people how we really feel (for various reasons) but if you’re missing someone, tell them. If you love someone, tell them.

 

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

 

A) I think we have all felt this way before. Everyone can relate to missing someone and trying to navigate those feelings.

 

Q) How did you come to work with “Sometimes” co-writer Sam Hook?

 

A) Sam and I have worked on a few songs of mine prior to this one (“Show Me” and “You got it”). We were actually introduced by Happy Perez years ago.

 

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

 

A) I wanted to portray the agony of really missing someone – not being able to sleep, contemplating if you should reach out, waiting on a call or a text. And in the end, we actually were both feeling the same thing. Although not all stories end this way, I think it’s important to tell people how you feel.

 

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

 

A) Sometimes the lyrics or a concept comes to me in the middle of the night. Sometimes it’s after I hear the music and then the ideas flow.

 

Q) You often work with Happy Perez for production, but how much of a say do you have in the production of your music?

 

A) I choose tracks that speak to me.

 

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

 

A) Yes! I am wrapping that up now!

 

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

 

A) I love going back to Houston to perform. Seeing so many familiar faces is always a great feeling!

 

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

 

A) There are sooo many people I’d like to collab with: Drake, Lil Wayne, Giveon, 6lack and J Cole are some of my dream collaborations.

 

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them? 

 

A) I listen to a little bit of everything from R&B, Rap to Country. I’m loving Lucky Daye’s new album.

 

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

 

A) I think it’s great to be able to share, connect and talk to fans directly. They get to see the process and stay in the know with what you’re doing.

 

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

 

A) THANK YOU! I appreciate every stream, view, download, share, like, etc. It gives me so much joy to be able to share my voice and my story through my music.
