Colony – Fallout
By: Gladys Luna
There is a German camp set in the middle of the woods in Northern England. A group of men are showing a picture of a middle age man to some people around the camp. With a look between concerned and fear they shake their heads as they don’t seem to recognize said man until the picture is shown to a woman, who caresses it with shaking hands when she sees it. The picture reveals the face of Simon Eckhart (Charlie Bewley), a member of The Resistance team. The officer smirks and confirms to somebody else on the radio: We found the mother.
Katie (Sarah Wayne Callies) and Will (Josh Holloway) arrive at their bar where Jake (Carlos Antonio) has been helping them to search for cameras or microphones that may have been set there but apparently there´s none. After Jake leaves, the couple try to open the files that Katie stole from Maddie´s (Amanda Righetti) computer but, unfortunately, the files can´t be opened. Katie´s frustration grows by not knowing anything about Bram´s status, but Will tries to comfort her by telling her he will try to access to the information at work. Even though things at the bureau aren´t exactly easy at the moment, he will try to do his best.
Eckhart complains with BB (Victor Rasuk) and Morgan (Thora Birch) about Broussard (Tory Kittles) and their current situation. Apparently, Eckhart can´t trust him and believes that he doesn’t care at all for any of them. BB attempts to calm the man down and assures him he is near to find something useful and Morgan suggests him to take some rest as seen how stressed and tired he looks. Suddenly, BB starts coughing and spitting blood on his hand. Morgan tries to help him asking for Eckhart´s assistance. When Eckhart tries to help BB, he gets blood spit on him.
Will tries to access the files on the USB driver at work, but it faces the same situation as he did on the bar – the files require a Level 2 Access. So, he decides to visit Betsy (Keiko Agena) who seems to be the only one who can help him.
The woman looks hesitant at first, but eventually concedes and manage to open the files. Before they can look any further, they are abruptly interrupted by Burke (Toby Huss) who questions them about their activities. Betsy lies to him by saying she is helping Will with the new procedures but, obviously, Burke doesn’t believe a thing.
Katie receives a surprise visit from Morgan, who asks for her help with BB. She tells her that everything is out of control. They are living in a bunker underground. Eckhart doesn’t believe Broussard who keeps going out every day and BB, he might be dying. She wants to take him to a hospital, but Katie reminds her how risky that might be since they are on the lookout but Morgan doesn’t care, all she wants is to save him.
Nolan (Adrian Pasdar) and Maddie arrive at the labor camp where Bram (Alex Neustaedter) is located. They are met with Alan (Peter Jacobson) who seems surprised by the unannounced appearance, but Nolan explains to him that is just a routine visit to make sure everything is in place. He also informs Alan that Maddie wants to see her nephew Bram Bowman and Alan tells her Bram´s been placed at a distribution center, but they will drive her there.
In the meantime, Katie and Morgan decide to take the bus in order to get to the bunker but when Morgan gets in there, she surprisingly sees the pictures of her. BB, Broussard and Eckhart stick to one of the walls in the bus. Katie encourages them to keep moving trying not to raise any suspicion. When they finally arrive to the bunker, Eckhart reacts disapprovingly at Morgan´s decision of taking Katie there as he doesn’t trust her, but the blonde assures him Katie will help them. Katie goes straight to BB who is at the bathroom, coughing and spitting blood on the toilet. She soothes him, telling him she is there for him. She decides to call Will and tells him that Charlie is sick so she needs his help.
Will seems to get the hidden message behind his wife´s words and hurries to leave the office. When he is in the hallway, he is stopped by Burke who interrogates him about his destination. Once again, Burke doesn’t buy anything that Will says and takes him by surprise thanking him for calling Betsy out. He confirms him that the woman has been transferred since she is a threat for the corporation.
Will meets Katie at the bar and she explains to him that Morgan visited her so she could help her with BB. Will seems annoyed at the situation and tells her they are no longer their problem, but the woman makes him realize that if Morgan takes BB to the hospital then it will be their problem. If Broussard’s team gets caught so will they.
Alan asks Nolan to tell him the truth about his visit so Nolan comes clean about a special shipment that is going to be passing through Alan´s camp with a destination out of the planet. Alan doesn’t seem to be so convinced about it, but Nolan reminds him he owes him a favor so he truly expects for Alan to cooperate. At the distribution center, Bram updates her friends on Alan´s recent activities when he is suddenly called by Officer Jenkins (Mac Brandt) to follow him. He is taken to an isolated side of the room where he meets Maddie. She hugs him and when Bram flinches at the contact she notices he has some bruises on his ribs, but he refuses to tell her where he got them from. Maddie hands him a bag of snacks, but Bram doesn’t seem to be so pleased with the gift. He wants Maddie to take him out of there. She informs him that Will brought Charlie home and when Bram asks her if his parents know about where he is, she confirms him they do. They are trying to be careful and promises that he´ll be released soon. Bram shows nothing but disappointment. It seems like he believes that his parents don’t care for him. He gets mad and walks away from his aunt, leaving her there alone with her “gift.”
Will visits Doctor Weisman (Chris Conner) and tells him they need his assistance, but the doctor refuses making Will threaten him so he finally agrees. Will leads the doctor to his van and when he opens the door, the doctor is surprised to see Katie waiting for them inside. The trio arrive at the bunker; the doctor´s head has been covered and his hands are tied, trying to avoid risk. When the hood is removed from his head, he immediately begins to interrogate the couple about the other two people standing in front of him, but he manages to figure out they are part of The Resistance. He tries to escape, but Will stops him telling him he is only there to see a patient. The doctor is led to where BB is lying. He is not sure of what kind of disease he might have so he suggests to take him to a hospital, but the group inform him that is not a possibility since they may get caught. They ask for an additional solution, but the doctor tells them that his laboratories were invaded after The Arrival so if they can make it there somehow, then he will help them. Will and Katie take BB and lead the doctor out of the bunker.
Alan and Nolan are at the labor camp where a special delivery has arrived and is waiting to be shipped. They enter to a private area filled with boxes. Nolan proposes opening them and asks for Alan´s help. They manage to open a box and it reveals a medium silver oval artifact in there. Alan asks Nolan about the identity of the artifact, but Nolan replies that they say to believe. You must have faith without proof, but now the object is what can be called proof.
Katie, Will and the doctor arrive at his laboratories with the help of Jake. The doctor runs some tests on him. When BB wakes up, Katie is standing next to him. The doctor walks in and tells them they are still running some more tests and discreetly nods to Katie and Will to join him in the other room. He informs them that apparently BB has been exposed to some form of radiation so he suggests if they have been involved in the same thing as him. He says they better stop doing that if they don’t want to end up the same way. If they keep BB on the laboratories and under medication, they may have forty-eight hours before something terrible happens to him.
At Nolan´s mansion, Maddie tells him they shouldn’t leave Bram there any longer. They should take advantage that Alan is eating out of his palm and ask him to take Bram with them, but Nolan believes he is the only one making sacrifices and they have come too far to just risk it all. Maddie doesn’t appear to agree entirely with him but doesn’t say anything about it.
Will and Katie take drop the doctor to an empty street and show him the pictures they took of him while he was helping BB. She tells him that if the Red Hats show up at her door looking for answers she will show them the evidence and they will know he just collaborated with The Resistance.
The couple take BB to an abandoned area. Katie talks to him and asks him if he needs something then she comes back to Will who is waiting for her outside the van. Will tells her there´s nothing they can do for him and even if they take him to the green zone there´s a chance they only help him get better to torture him and eventually he will tell on all of them. Katie confesses that what BB wants to talk to him. Will and the young man have a short heart to heart chat and then he asks Will to give him a “soldier´s death.” Will hesitates on doing as requested, but BB begs him to do it until Will finally shoots him. Katie is looking at them from some feet away and then she breaks in tears at the scene in front of her.
Alan calls Helena (Ally Walker) and informs her about Nolan’s visit to the camp. He tells her that he was really interested in the Global Authority shipment and he had to show him as requested. He also tells her he made sure for Nolan to see only the boxes that weren’t so important but knowing him, he´ll want more. Helena thanks him for his help and finishes the call.
Will and Katie arrive at The Yonk and before they enter, they see Broussard hidden in the alley. Will gives him the shell of the bullet he used to kill BB and then he enters the bar leaving Katie on the street with him. She questions him about where he was when BB got sick, but he comes up with a lot of excuses for her. She suggests for him to get her team ready for what it comes and even though he didn’t ask for anything of what is happening now, that is what he is now.
Bram and his friend meet two other guys at a hidden place. They show him a bomb they are building and Bram looks terrified at them.
Back at the bunker, Eckhart keeps complaining about Broussard and then he gets mad and walks away. As he is walking on the street, he sees a photo of a woman reported as missing and he realizes the picture is of his mother. He begins to rip the two signs of the wall and takes them with him, but when he turns around the corner he sees there are plenty more of them. An alarm begins to sound loudly as Eckhart stands just in there, looking frightened.
