Rebecca Bunch (Rachel Bloom) may have appeared crazy for leaving a cushy life style in New York to follow her summer camp crush Josh Chan (Vincent Rodriguez III) to West Covina, but it now seems that their love story can begin according to Rebecca. And from the expression on his face, this comment freaked Josh out.

So, Season Two opens fifteen minutes later from where we ended the season finale with Josh driving Rebecca home. “Did you mean what you said when you said you moved here for me?” Josh asks Rebecca and then questions her comment that their love story can begin. Rebecca lies that she didn’t say that and Josh is emotionally fixated on everything he thinks she is saying. “You’re like an emotional stenographer.” If Josh believes Rebecca, she really is a great attorney as she’s able to convince someone of the implausible.

It is three weeks later and we learn that Josh gave up his apartment to Valencia (Gabrielle Ruiz) after they broke up. And although Josh and Rebecca have been to bed, he chooses not to sleep all night with her in her room. He goes to sleep on the couch.

The next day at Whitefeather and Associates, Paula (Donna Lynne Champlin) is surprised that after three weeks Josh is still not sleeping in Rebecca’s bed. She believes that Rebecca telling Josh that she moved to West Covina for him has scared him off. “He’s just there for the sex,” says Paula. But Rebecca assures that it’s more than that between them. She tells Paula about how she has been trying to convince Josh to move his stuff into her place, but him seeing Greg’s old Emory sweatshirt in the drawer might delay his decision. Paula is unconvinced and no longer thinks that Rebecca and Josh have this great love story. “Besides the sex, what other proof do you have that he loves you?” Paula asks Rebecca. Well Paula, let Rebecca tell you about “Love Kernels.”  And with that viewers get the first great song of Season Two. But is Rebecca deluding herself? Did her “Love Kernels” with Josh “pop” more before they got together?

Paula shares with her husband Scott (Steve Monroe) the latest Rebecca drama about Josh sleeping on the couch, which Rebecca has failed to tell him that is a pull-out because she wants Josh to sleep in her bed. But Paula promised herself that she has to stay out of Rebecca’s love life even though she feels like something’s missing.

Meanwhile, Josh is telling his friend Hector (Erick Lopez) that he is only staying at Rebecca’s because it’s close to the dojo and he can’t move back in with his mom. But Rebecca’s musical Scott Joplin’s “The Entertainer” drawer she got for him makes Josh a little uncomfortable. Later that night, Josh has a freaky dream that Greg (Santino Fontana) appears wearing the Emory sweatshirt then turns into a falcon. This convinces Josh to pack up his drawer and move out of Rebecca’s until she straightens things out with Greg.

Rebecca calls Greg’s mom then goes to see his dad Marco (Robin Thomas), who doesn’t like her. “You’re like this person who messes with people’s lives and tries to pass it off as quirky.” He tells Rebecca that he doesn’t know where Greg is but after Rebecca leaves, Greg comes out from the next room.

Josh is sleeping on bubble wrap at his job. He really needs to find a place to live. Unfortunately, none of his friends can take him in and returning back to Rebecca’s is out of the question as long as the situation with Greg is up in the air.

At Whitefeather and Associates, while Rebecca is having her romantic Josh/Greg drama, Darryl (Pete Gardner) has just given White Josh (David Hull) the key is apartment. “I gave this man the key to my heart. Now I’m giving him the key to my ap-heart-ment,” he says making a heart symbol. Darryl needs to give Rebecca the key to having a successful relationship. Paula uses her computer skills to help locate Greg. By triangulating the signal on his cell phone, Paula gets an address where Greg has been going on East Cameron.

Meanwhile, Josh asks his mother (Amy Hill) whether he can move back home. Although he insists it’s only temporary until he can save up his money, Mrs. Chan is happy to have her baby back home.

Rebecca and Paula go to the address on East Cameron. Greg is there talking about how after having ten cocktails at a wedding the night before he was arrested the next day because he was still legally drunk and sentenced to come there every day for a month. We learn two things about Greg: he hates guys who wear skinny jeans and more importantly, he is an alcoholic.

Paula again talks with her husband Scott and admits that she is addicted to Rebecca’s life. Because she can’t write random legal briefs (something she is good at) to occupy her time and keep her out of Rebecca’s business, Paula presents Rebecca with a friend contract. The contract states the new stipulations for their friendship (giving advice and support only). Rebecca hates the contract, but is impressed at how well written it is. For the sake of their friendship, Rebecca signs the contract.

When she returns home, Josh’s Scott Joplin drawer seems to be mocking Rebecca with its happy song. Josh arrives and Rebecca tells him that she believes Greg is not in a good place right now so it’s probably best that they hold off on a having a relationship. And then comes the song “We Should Definitely Not Have Sex Right Now.” And despite their best efforts, Rebecca and Josh definitely do have sex right now. As the episode concludes, Paula checks the computer for information on how to apply to law school. But will her passion for law be strong enough to keep her out of Rebecca’s love life? Stay Tuned.
