Interviews
Cristina Rosato – Turner & Hooch
By: Kemberlie Spivey
Q) What drew you to be a part of the series “Turner & Hooch?”
A) I loved this movie growing up! When I found out about “Turner & Hooch” being made into a series, I immediately knew I needed to be a part of it.
Q) Before auditioning for this role, were you a fan of the original Turner & Hooch?
A) Absolutely. Tom Hanks and cute dogs? Dreamy.
Q) What can we expect from your character this season?
A) I play Olivia, an Oakland cop. She is warm, earnest and bubbly, but she can really turn it on when she needs to for work and turns into one tough cop.
Q) Do you relate to your character in any ways?
A) Yes. Olivia is really fun and outgoing but also sensitive, which I very much relate to. She is cool but also kind of a dork, which is really me.
Q) What sets apart the “Turner & Hooch” series from the original film?
A) The series introduces new characters, so there are even more people -and dogs- to love.
Q) What was your most memorable moment from set that you can share?
A) Any time I got to watch Turner (Josh Peck) and Hooch, that was really a highlight. Their dynamic is hilarious, and without giving away too much, I loved all the messes they wind up in.
Q) Are there any scenes or episodes you are looking forward to that fans should look out for?
A) There are some really fun scenes for Olivia and Xavier (Brandon Jay McLaren). There was one scene in episode 10 that was so fun and challenging to shoot. I think Olivia and Xavier are characters that fans will love. Both these characters are eccentric and kooky, and I can’t wait for fans of the show to see them together in action.
Q) Social media is a huge part of television, what kind of feedback do you hope fans receive to “Turner & Hooch?”
A) I hope that fans of the classic Turner & Hooch get all the nostalgic feels and get excited to meet new characters in new storylines. I hope that all the fans fall in love with these fun characters and pets and get excited to tune in every week with their families and friends.
Q) Aside from “Turner & Hooch,” are there any other projects you have been working on that you can tell us about?
A) Yes. I actually just finished shooting an independent film called The Vegas. We started shooting this movie pre-pandemic in Argentina, but then we got shut down for just over a year – and finally were able to finish the shoot this June in Uruguay. The Vegas is based on true events, and follows two siblings, Diana and Davie Vega, as they travel back to their homeland of Argentina. There they discover the passionate world of Argentine Tango, as well as learn about some of Argentina’s dark history and the real reason their family left back in the 80s. It is a movie about longing, self-discovery and Tango, all mixed in with some real political events which are still so relevant today.
Q) What would like to say to your fans or anyone who’s supported you throughout your career so far?
A) I love hearing from my fans, and I try to respond to them as much as possible. None of us would be where we are without the love and support of our friends, families and fans. I am ever so grateful for all the love I’ve received from around the world over the years. It warms my heart.
