Curt Chambers – Up in the Air
By: Jamie Steinberg
Q) How would you describe your sound?
A) A hybrid of my influences
Q) Who are some of your musical influences?
A) Prince, Dr Dre, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, John Mayer, Joe Bonamassa, Dixie Chicks, Crosby Stills and Nash, 90’s hip-hop
Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Up in the Air.”
A) The idea came from a girl that I liked that would not let me close the deal on us. She always left me up in the air.
Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?
A) A lot of the fans seem to connect to the melody on the chorus. It’s a really catchy melody. And the concept of the song.
Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?
A) We wanted to do a simple video to go with the thought of being alone up in the air. And just the simplicity of an acoustic performance for its organic nature
Q What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?
A) The process changes every day. Sometimes I like to record music without an idea because I am a multi-instrumentalist and sometimes idea comes from something that someone says so it begins with the lyric.
Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?
A) So far, I have been producing my own music.
Q) Having toured with the likes of Florida Georgia Line, Chris Young and Jake Owen. Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?
A) I love northern and southern California. They love country music there.
Q) What can fans expect from a live Curt Chambers performance?
A) You can expect high energy, some sweating, massive guitar solos and the feeling of wanting to go home and make love.
Q) Will there be a full EP or album coming in the near future?
A) Absolutely, really near future.
Q) You have shared stages with the likes of BB King all the way to Dr. Dre. Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?
A) Keith Urban
Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?
A) Duke Ellington. I’m looking for things that inspire me harmonically.
Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?
A) I get to be able to hear their voice and be a part of what inspires them.
Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?
A) Thank you for taking the time to support me and assist in making my dreams come true. I like to pay you back by creating music that’s the soundtrack to your epic moments in life. I’m just the DJ and you’re the star. You’re the dancer. Go leave your mark on life.
