Q) “Huntin’ Season” is extremely catchy and I love how the music reflects the idea of a “hunt.” What inspired the song?

A) “Huntin’ Season” was co-written with Cyndi Limbaugh Torres, Scott Barrier and Allie Colleen. The idea came to me when a friend was telling me about his recent divorce and how his ex-wife’s magazines kept coming to his house. I was telling Cyndi, Scott and Allie about this and about how I thought there was a song somewhere in that story the next morning in our writing session. When it came down to what magazine name we would use, the only magazine I could recall my dad having was “Field and Stream.” The entire song started from there!

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans really connect to?

A) This song is definitely unexpected and suspenseful but also very fun. I think the twist in the story really draws them in to see what is going to happen.

Q) I see this track was a team effort. What is that kind of songwriting process like? Do you all sit together and come up with lyrics and music separately or do you have the song ready and it’s just about putting the final touches to it with the team?

A) It is definitely a team effort! When it comes to writing the songs, we do the lyrics and music together. That is one of my favorite parts of writing – finding the perfect music to marry the lyrics or story you’re writing. “Huntin’ Season” was a song I instantly knew I wanted to record and perform. On the production side, when I sat down with my new producer, Eric Torres, I played him a few songs and “Huntin’ Season” automatically became the beginning of our new project. Working with Eric on the track for this song was amazing! The first time I played it for him, he knew exactly what I wanted the production to be and then as I say “knocked it out of the park”!

Q) Who were some of your musical influences growing up?

A) I grew up on what I call “Country, country” music. My momma’s favorite band was Alabama and my grandmother’s favorite artist was Conway Twitty. Along with their music playing constantly, the artists that really stand out from my childhood are Garth Brooks, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and Toby Keith! Aside from a brief metal phase…Yes, I was a metal bassist…Country music has been the soundtrack to my life for as long as I can remember!

Q) I see from your Twitter that your mum has driven you over 3,000 miles on your radio tour! That’s amazing! What does it mean to you to have such a supportive family?

A) That 3,000 miles was just in one week! My mom and I have spent many, many miles and days in cars or airplanes traveling over a majority of the United States to promote my music. My family and their support mean the world to me! I couldn’t be where I am today without them.  My mom started bringing me to Nashville so I could sing when I was eleven years old and at the age of fifteen my family made the decision to move me to Nashville. My dad and my brother have stayed in Kentucky to run our family business and “support the habit” as I say. And my mom moved to Nashville with me to help manage my career, get me where I need to be and drive me! Now that I am older, and can drive myself [laughs], I still couldn’t imagine doing this without her! I will forever be grateful for every ounce of support my family has given me.

Q) Speaking of your radio tour, what has the response been like so far to “Huntin’ Season” after having it played on radio stations across America?

A) It has been so exciting to see the response to “Huntin’ Season” so far. Our first week to radio we were fourth most added on MusicRow, right under George Strait!! I have been working radio since I was seventeen years old and the love and support each song gets always amazes me. I’ll always remember the stations that have supported me from the beginning!

Q) You’ve won several awards already, which is an amazing achievement, especially considering how young you are. What is your ultimate goal in the world of country music?

A)  I want to spend my life doing what I love – creating music.  Music has been the biggest part of my life for over ten years now and there is nothing I love to do more.  My dream is and has always been to make a living playing music. I want to be able to support myself and the ones I love.  And, to play The Grand Ole Opry would be nice too!

Q) I absolutely love country music and I must say that none of your songs sound out of place on my country playlist, and there’s some big names on there. How does it feel to have your music out there for people across the world to listen to?

A) It seemed like the recording process of our first project, “Freedom,” took a very long time to finish. So, the feeling of finally having music out for the world to hear was AMAZING! I’m so excited that we have started releasing new music again and to show the world what else we have been working!

Q) What advice would you give to aspiring country musicians?

A) One of my mentors once told me to “be the deal.” I have since taken that to heart. To “be the deal” means to continue bettering yourself and your craft – there is always more to learn! Stay true to who you are and what you want to be. As my momma says, “There is no road map, so make your own!”

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your music?

A) Some of y’all have been following me since I was too young to even have Facebook, thanks mom for setting that up for me and y’all have no idea what that means to me. Y’all have watched me grow up and supported me every step of the way. Thank you to all of you from the bottom of my heart! Get ready for new music in 2020!
