DC’s Legends of Tomorrow – Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part Five
By: Courtney Groom
We start right off the at home, Earth-1. They did it! Kara (Melissa Benoist) wakes up back at home, safe and sound with Alex (Chyler Leigh) in the room trying not to disturb her. Kara asks how she got there and Alex says she must have fallen asleep watching something. Kara starts talking to Alex about The Dawn of Time and this earth being wiped from existence, but Alex has a blank face. She has no idea what Kara is talking about. Kara starts to freak out until she gets a call from Nia (Nicole Maines) saying she needs to hurry to an award ceremony for a Nobel Peace Prize. She hustles to the ceremony where Lex (Jon Cryer) is awarded it and Nia says he’s deserving, leaving Kara even more confused.
Kara arrives at DEO when they get an alert that Weather Witch (Reina Hardesty) is menacing National City, so Kara goes as she’s in need of punch something. As she’s just about to stop Weather Witch, thankfully The Flash (Grant Gustin) shows up and sends her flying. Kara asks why they are on her Earth. The Flash gets confused because he thought this was his earth. While they try to sort that out, a man comes up to ask for an autograph and it is none other than Marv Wolfman – the real-life comic book creator of Crisis on Infinite Earths. As The Flash signs his photos, he asks how long he has known The Flash and Supergirl are working together on the same earth. The man responds they always have with the help of the Green Arrow and the Legends.
Meanwhile, in Central City workers find an unconscious Nash (Tom Cavanagh) in the tunnel where he unleashed the Anti-Monitor. Over in Star City we see Sara (Caity Lotz) is lost on how she finds herself wandering the streets. She meets up with Ray (Brandon Routh) who has no memory of things. J’onn (David Harewood) shows up as he is the only one amongst the Paragons who remembers what happened. Sara becomes aware of the new combined world and J’onn shares his memories of the Crisis to Ray. Sara asks where Oliver is and J’onn explains that he has been traveling around to restore their hero friends’ memories of what has happened, but there has been no sign of him. He is still dead. Sara refuses to believe it and so she heads to the bunker to track him down.
As she arrives at the bunker sounding for Oliver she is greeted by John Diggle (David Ramsey), Rene Ramirez (Rick Gonzalez) and Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy). The new Team Arrow are all in tears as they tell Sara they already know Oliver died. John, in particular, is heartbroken because he wasn’t there for either of Oliver’s death. Sara explains that everyone died in the Crisis and now everyone is back, meaning Oliver could still be alive. Rene steps in and says they already got Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) to do a global search on Oliver but they found no trace of him. Sara says maybe she can’t find him because he’s not Oliver anymore as he is another form, meaning the Spectre. However, John tells Sara to stop as they hug each other crying.
Back in Central City Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) has Nash trying to work out what’s happened to him. J’onn comes in waking up Nash to reveal that it was him who released the Anti-Monitor (LaMonica Garrett) while also showing Caitlin what he did.
As Barry and Kara meet up with Team Arrow and Sara in the bunker coming to terms with the fact that Oliver really is gone, they get an alert that something is destroying the City. And who better to be destroying the City than “Legends of Tomorrow’s” very own Beebo! Yes, a giant Beebo, much like the one we saw the Legends use the totems for in the Season 3 finale, is rampaging Star City asking for cuddles. With the only way of creating a giant Beebo is with the six totems which are locked on the Waverider, Sara rings Nate (Nick Zano) and Ava Sharpe (Jes Macallan) to make sure they’re secure. She finds out they are and tells the Legends to stay in D.C, but one of them is already in the City.
Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell) is in a book shop signing copies of his latest novel Carjacked as the giant Beebo goes past. The Atom, Supergirl and Flash all make their way to the streets to stop him while Sara and the rest of the team find a way to stop him. After their original plan of tripping him with wires failed, Batwoman appears as they realize Beebo is a diversion. Sargon the Sorcerer (Raul Herrera) is robbing a bank and is quickly taken down.
Back at the Arrow bunker Nash shows up with an Anti-Matter warning. While the others freak out about the anti-matter situation, Sara and Barry are outside processing Oliver’s death and all they’ve lost. As they chat they are attacked by Shadow Demons. The realize that the Paragons are being hunted. So, Sara shows up to protect Ryan as he’s human and powerless. It turns out the Anti-Monitor may not exactly be gone. Ryan comes up with a plan: they’ll shrink the Anti-Monitor and send him to the Microverse.
The Shadow Demons converge and the heroes, including Alex and Superman (Tyler Hoechlin), come together one last time to destroy the Shadow Demons for good. As they begin to fight, the Anti-Monitor reveals himself. At Star Labs Killer Frost and Mick have teamed up to destroy the Shadow Demons after them. Alongside them to help is Black Lightning (Cress Williams). The heroes dedicate their fight to Oliver and attack the Anti-Monitor, thus buying Ray, Ryan and Nash the time they need to create the shrinking tech – but not before the Anti-Monitor grows huge to end them all. As the heroes holds off the Anti-Monitor, Barry goes to help the science team.
When Barry arrives back the Anti-Monitor is crushing Superman in his hands. As Supergirl is about to storm into him to save her cousin, Ray throws her the shrinking bomb. She throws it at the Anti-Monitor, shrinking him and Superman. Thankfully, Ray uses his Atom powers to grow Superman back to full size.
They finally did it! The Anti-Monitor is gone for good and the universe is saved again. The Presidents addresses the nation, explaining that the heroes saved humanity, but one has fallen – Oliver Queen. The Diggles are all sat together watching, including the return of Baby Sara. Kara, Alex and Kate with Team Arrow, Nate, Ava, Barry and Caitlin all hold a nationwide minute silence for Oliver.
And then in a voiceover Oliver explains the new Multiverse and we see new Earths rise featuring Stargirl, Titans, Doom Patrol, Green Lantern, and, yes, Earth-96 returns with Brandon Routh as Superman. And as for Earth-1? It gets a new name: Earth-Prime. Thus, the age of heroes is born.
J’onn, Kate, Sara, Kara, Barry, Black Lightning and Clark are all stood together in an open warehouse with the Green Arrow suit in front of them in a glass cage saying their final goodbyes. Black Lightning asks why he choose this as the location for Oliver’s shrine, in which Barry reveals it’s an old Star Labs facility and now their worlds are one he thought they could use it as a home base.
We finish on Barry revealing a round table, filled with seats for each of the heroes with her symbol on the back including one for Oliver at the head of the table. With a new earth comes new villains and threats, but the new Team Arrowverse is ready.
