DC’s Legends of Tomorrow – Meat: The Legends
By: Alejandra Gil M
The episode starts with the legends trying to make sense of the whole alien thing. Nate (Nick Zano) is immediately interrupted by one of them splashing on the Waverider´s glass. Rory (Dominic Purcell) starts the windshield to wipe it off before Ava (Jess Macallan) can stop him since she thinks it may have been a lead. Zari (Tala Ashe) says the alien is dead anyway. Ava asks Spooner (Lisseth Chavez) if she is getting any readings, but just confirms what Zari just said. She then asks Gideon (Amy Louise Pemberton) to find them some aliens and she is actually able to find something back in 1955 at San Bernardino, California, the birth place of fast food. “Ergo the death of the great American eatery,” says Behrad (Shayan Sobhian). They are able to get as much information about a local restaurant called Big Bang Burger run by a Burt Beeman (Greg Kean), which is where a big massacre took place that may be related to aliens.
So, the legends go to Big Bang Burger to meet Burt while Sara (Caity Lotz) and Gary (Adam Tsekhman) are crashing and finding that they ran out of fuel. Sara sees a dog outside the ship and if he can breath outside so can they. So, they go after it. While some of the legends are trying the burgers, Zari made a schedule so her and Behrad can share the totem, but he´s not a 100% on board with it yet. Ava asks a few policeman if they had seen anything weird lately and Spooner is kinda feeling something. John (Matt Ryan) asks her if she´s okay, but she mistakes a waitress that´s just human. Therefore, Zari, Behrad and Nate get a job at the restaurant to keep their identities. Zari insists on asking for the totem, but her brother still does not agree.
Ava, Mick and Spooner take the alien mascot guy (Christian Lagasse) to the Waverider only to find out that the thing that´s going to make everyone crazy is the secret sauce from Big Bang Burger, like an extraterritorial parasite. She calls the restaurant to stop serving burgers so that´s what they do. Not before everyone goes insane and they have to feed them more burgers with some of Zari´s herbal dragon ash to make them all sleepy.
And they also find out that Burt´s wife Rhonda Beeman (Kirsten Robek) is the one making it. So, Ava goes to pay her a visit but doesn´t get anything out of her so she follows something coming out of the ceiling into the attic to where she finds some sort of nest. As it comes out it eats the wife.
Sara and Gary are trying to keep track of the dog they saw; however, they find someone unexpected – Amelia Earhart (Jennifer Oleksiuk)! She takes them in but does not know where they are exactly. Sara asks Amelia to help with their aircraft; however, when she starts acting strange Sara and Gary try to leave. Amelia sort of turns into an alien. Gary knocks her down, but not before she stings Sara on the hand. They manage to escape her only to get ambushed by more people with lights.
Back at the Waverider Ava pours two drinks out of habit but tells Spooner that it should not go to waste and invites her to it. She apologizes for not thinking how the situation has been on her and how it may have make her feel. Spooner says she does not know how to control the thing in her head. Ava asks her to stay so she agrees to do it only to keep shooting aliens and so that Ava can find Sara.
By the end of the episode Behrad agrees to share the totem with Zari, but she says that she needs to respect his boundaries and will find a different way to help. However, someone else is listening to their conversation. It seems real Zari from inside the totem can´t stand the situation any longer and she splits the totem in two, giving each sibling their own.
