Those weird and funny little yellow creatures are back in Despicable Me 4. You will laugh at the slapstick jokes and kids will absolutely enjoy themselves. For those looking for a thinker, this one you can pass up. But if you just want a bit of fun and to get an update on Steve Carell as your favorite animated villain, check out Despicable Me 4.

Reformed bad guy Gru (Steve Carell) is back and now trying to manage fatherhood. His latest gig is Silly Daddy – an entertainer who enjoys making a fool of himself. Throwing a wrench in his plans is snooty Frenchman Maxime Le Mal (Will Ferrell) who has a bone to pick with Gru from their time in school together. It is at their class reunion (joined by girlfriend Valentine – played by Sofia Vergara) that Le Mal attempts his revenge by transforming into a genetically engineered cockroach man. Valetina breaks Le Mal out of prison and the two tag team to wage war on Gru.

The best part of the film is Gru with his family. Wife Lucy (Kristen Wiig) and his kids are absolutely adorable and there is a new baby, Gru Jr. in the mix, too. They have all been relocated to the suburbs by witness protection post Le Mal class reunion events and the family struggles to adapt to their new names and surroundings. And ever present is the Minon army doing their modern take on the Three Stooges, bringing laughter to all.

Directors Chris Renaud and Patrick Delage are certainly top notch at animation and continue to make these beloved characters shine. Writers Mike White and Ken Daurio give viewers – little and big – plenty of reasons to chuckle and enjoy Gru and crew. And this is the perfect time to deliver – summer when kids are looking for a spot in the theaters.

Despicable Me 4 is another great adventure for this fun and funny villain turned family man. Whether he is taking down a nemesis he knew nothing about or bringing laughter to his little ones, it is always a pleasure seeing Gru back on our screens.
