The season finale starts at Jane Humprey (Gus Birney) baby´s christening. Most of the Dickinsons arrive. Lavinia (Anna Baryshnikov) and Ship (Pico Alexander) apparently worked things out and got back together. However, he surprises her by asking to say goodbye to her family because they are moving to New Orleans. Sue (Ella Hunt) and Austin (Adrian Enscoe) are also there. He´s going to be the baby´s godfather. Sue asks about Emily (Hailee Steinfeld) as she hasn´t seen her since her poem got published.

This takes us to the Dickinsons. Emily is sitting at the window waiting for Sam (Finn Jones). He arrives and Maggie (Darlene Hunt) opens the door. He wanted to grab a quick bite before hitting the road, but Emily says that she needs to talk to him and follows her to the parlor. She refuses to look at him in the eyes. She´s protecting them. Emily immediately asks for her poems back, but Sam is not happy. He says no, but Emily demands them. Sam asks her if she does not want to build an empire. Emily says she already had done so and he stole it from her, him and Sue. Sam says that the poems are now they´re property and he has already sent one to the publisher. So, they start a chase over the house and he leaves with them. To our surprise, it turns out that Maggie got the poems back from Sam. One falls out – the one that says “Sue.”

Sue leaves the church and goes to look for Emily while Austin is accepting to be Jane´s baby godfather. At the Dickinsons home Frazar (Will Pullen), better known as Nobody, appears before Emily again. She already knows who he is. She understands and says that won´t make the same mistake. He says that she has a lot of fights to fight and has to do it in secret as a Nobody, the bravest most brilliant Nobody that ever existed. While she´s narrating one of her poems: “You can not put a fire out…” the church starts to burn. A fire has been accidentally initiated by the tweens Anna (Erin Gerasimovich) and Clara (Neville Lee. Austin figures it out but does not say anything as he protects them.

We coma back to Emily´s room. Sue arrives but Emily does not want to talk to her. However, Sue wants a chance to explain herself. Emily says Sue forced her to care about Sam. Apparently, the poems had been hurting Sue and had made her feel things that she has no control over and that she does not want to feel. Emily tries to send her away. It seems Emily doesn´t think Sue doesn´t know how to have feelings without her.

Sue says Emily is right as the only time she feels things is when they are together. She wanted to escape her feelings. Sue screams, “I´m in love with you,” but Emily does not believe her and thinks is a lie. Sue says it again and they start kissing against the wall and all over the house. They take heir clothes off on the stairs. Emily and Sue are enjoying each other all over the kitchen and in the bathtub.

Lavinia and Ship continue to talk about New Orleans. Apparently, Ship wired all of his money to her ex and bought a house there for them to move, but she´s not happy. She insists that she cannot leave her family, but she wonders of she´s making a mistake. Everyone says yes; however, she stands her ground and finally breaks up with him for good, sending him away.

In a spooky confession Edward (Toby Huss) says that he dreamed the fire last night and looks at it as a bad sign, a bad omen. However, Mrs. Dickinson (Jane Krakowski) says he sounds as crazy as Emily, but perhaps she´s not that crazy after all.
