Dyllan Murray – Firecracker

Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I would describe my sound as both Pop and R&B. I kind of tried to mix it up with the single that I just put out to give a different sound to a different audience.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) I would say my big one is Justin Timberlake. I like Shawn Mendes a lot and Ariana Grande.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I am saying Shawn Mendes a lot because he’s a really, really talented songwriter and super nice, too.

Q) Your new single “Firecracker” is out now. Where did the idea come from for it?

A) I worked with a producer named Alex and we’ve been working together for a bit of time now. He actually brought me the song and I loved it. Originally, it was just me on it. A previous manager I had worked with knew Tyga. Tyga heard it, loved it and wanted to be on it. I’ve also known Jack and Jack for a while now and they wanted to be on it. So, we kind of had an idea to have two features on it. I recently released a version that had just Jack and Jack on it because a lot of Jack and Jack fans have been asking for that for a long time. We recently shot the video for that and it comes out soon.

Q) What kind of fan response have you gotten to “Firecracker?”

A) A lot! Jack and Jack posted a picture from the video shoot on their Instagram and had fans going crazy. I’ve gained a bunch of new followers and a bunch of new fans. Since I released it, my Twitter has been going crazy with great responses. We have started a hashtag #FirecrackerFtJackandJack and are trying to get it trending.

Q) What is it about the song that fans have connected with?

A) Honestly, I think it is because it has a super catchy chorus and it is the fact that Jack and Jack don’t do a lot of features. It’s very rare for them to do a feature so it’s cool that I got them on it. That’s why a lot of fans are going crazy for it. I just feel it’s a really good song. I’m really happy that a lot of people are responding well to it.

Q) What is your process for your songs? Do you need lyrics before creating the music?

A) Usually, the music comes first and then I’ll go into the studio with my producer to come up with ideas. It kind of goes from there!

Q) What can fans do to help promote your music?

A) I would say to share it with all of your friends. I would share it with all of my friends and have them share it!

Q) You are currently on the Popnation Summer Tour. How did you get involved?

A) It was brought to me by a family friend. They said they knew about it and that it was a really good tour. They thought a lot of fans would show up to it. I got aboard and I have been on it for four weeks now. It’s been so much fun going to a bunch of cities I’ve never been to before and meeting a lot of my fans.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Dyllan Murray concert?

A) It’s a lot of fun! I have twin backup dancers so it is awesome! A lot of people love that at my shows. I know Ariana Grande has twins too and it is rare to have twin backup dancers. At some of my bigger shows I have been doing a ballad and bringing a girl up on stage.

Q) You have such a great fanbase. Why is being a part of social media such an important way for you to connect with them?

A) I think it is a great way because it is so fast. When I do release music, they can see it. So, it’s awesome to be that close that fast with someone through Twitter, Instagram and all that. They get to see all my different moves, where I am and what is coming up next with my career.

Q) Have you come up with a name for your fanbase?

A) One of my fans actually came up with it and that’s “Dyll Pickles.” It’s pretty funny!

Q) Where can fans go online to keep up with you?

A) I have my website at http://www.dyllanmurray.com. “The” and my name is also used for my social media accounts. I actually don’t have a Facebook account right now. I think I’m going to reopen my Facebook page and reopen that.

Q) A lot of fans are curious about your love life! Can you share with them your current status?

A) I’m single at the moment right now. I’ve seen stuff all over Twitter, but I’m just really good friends with Bryana and Nicolette.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your music?

A) I would like to say I love you guys so much and thank you so much for supporting me from the beginning. Nothing is impossible and dreams really do come true!
