Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) My sound always varies but it has the constant thread of alt-pop.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Brian McKnight, Boyz II Men, John Mayer, Jason Mraz and the list goes on and on!

Q) Your new single “right where you left me” is out now ft. Hindia. What was the song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) I came across Hindia music from my fans recommending him and instantly fell in love with his sound. I sent him a few songs I had been working on and we completed it together. I am so happy to have done the song with him because through him, I believe I am becoming a better and braver person. He is a great role model and an amazing human.

Q) Sometimes I find that songs with upbeat rock sounds have the most devastating lyrics, as well as hopeful which is what I thought when listening to “right where you left me.” Have you received any feedback for the song that has stayed with you?

A) I think when I first wrote the song, I wasn’t necessarily pulled to it the most. I thought I had better songs ready to go but the more time passed and i kept listening to it and fell in love again.

Q) I would sum up the song as a reassurance of someone who is willing to wait as the other side matures and returns. What do you hope people take away from it?

A) I never want a specific message to be received from my songs. My main objective is for the listener to feel anything at all. If the heart has been pulled in one way or the other, I’ve done my job. [smiles]

Q) Coming from a rock band with already millions upon millions of views and collaborated with artists such as MAX, Rich Brian, keshi, Seori and DPR Live, to name a few, what has it meant to you to be getting more recognition for your own music?

A) I don’t think it makes me feel any differently. I’ve had beautiful times while in day6 and have had and will have more beautiful memories as eaJ.

Q) I have been listening to your previous songs, “Pacman,” “Car Crash,” and “Mad.” Has there been a song that has challenged you the most creatively?

A) The lead song of my upcoming EP When the Rain Stopped Following Me is called “When the Rain Stopped.” I’ve always believed in letting a song write itself, but for this one I really let me OCD go haywire until I felt it was ABSOLUTELY perfect. [laughs] I hope people enjoy it  it’s got to be the most time and effort I’ve put into a song this far.

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) I have my upcoming EP When the Rain Stopped Following Me set for September and then my next EP 1/9 for early next year.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Jeff Satur! I’ve been listening to his music heavy and really think we would make an alt-pop banger!!

Q) What artist/musician are you currently listening to and why?

A) Jeff Satur, Billie Eilish and The Kid Laroi. Billie and Laroi’s newest albums have been blowing me away.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thank you for sticking with me. I know I’ve let myself go a bit these past two years, but Jae is back and in full sprint. I’ll make you guys proud again.
