Q) We will soon see you reprise your role as Lacey, in the upcoming Z-O-M-B-I-E-S 3. What can we expect from this new film and the continuing story of our beloved Seabrook and Zombietown residents?

A) Zombies 3 is bigger and better than ever. We have aliens and the spaceship voice is Rupaul! The dances and songs are better than ever and we get to see our characters evolve, even the Aceys are nice in this movie. But at its core the most important messages we love from our Zombies movies are still present: coming together, celebrating our differences and learning to live in harmony while embracing and uplifting everyone around us.

Q) How did you feel when they told you that you would be coming back for the third installment of such a well-loved film series?

A) I was quite surprised. When we filmed the first Zombies five years ago we never thought it would become such a beloved and huge franchise. We’re even getting a Zombies themed spot at the Disney parks!

Q) When we first met Lacey we learned that she is part of the group that stands in the way of change, going against the leading protagonists. What growth do we see in her throughout the films?

A) Thankfully, in this third movie, we see Lacey has taken a stand against Bucky (Trevor Tordjman) and has come to terms with the change Seabrook has experienced. We see her in this film not take Bucky’s radical thinking so seriously and have her own voice while embracing the evolution of the town.

Q) What did you enjoy most about being involved in the Z-O-M-B-I-E-S films?

A) I’ve never filmed a musical before, so going through all the steps in creating a musical has been one of the hardest but most rewarding things in my career. Also seeing how the film’s message has resonated with our cute little fans and, of course, meeting the people along the way. We’ve created lifelong friendships!

Q) What do you think it is about the Z-O-M-B-I-E-S franchise that makes it such a fan favorite?

A) What makes Zombies really special and stand out is how it relays such important messages in such a fun and clever way. I think not only our little fans but the families watching have felt connected to how the movies teach us to celebrate everyone’s differences and come together as a community despite those differences. Being able to teach these core morals to our younger generations in a way that is receptive to them is something I am so grateful to be a part of.

Q) Before Z-O-M-B-I-E-S 3 premieres on July 15th audiences will be able to catch you in the upcoming series “SkyMed,” which premiered on July 10th. Please share the premises of this new medical drama.

A) What makes this show special is that it’s not just any other medical drama, it is set in the North where flight nurses and pilots attend to remote communities. There is a beautiful dynamic within the indigenous communities, layered character arcs and storylines that take you on a rollercoaster. I am very excited about “SkyMed.” All episodes are out now on Paramount+ and in Canada on CBC Gem or Sundays at 9pm on CBC.

Q) How would you describe your character Madison?

A) Madison is a local girl who gets in over her head in a relationship with Bodie (Aason Nadjiwan), a pilot. She is a determined, strong, independent woman. Her storyline and character arc I think are very empowering.

Q) What made you decide to be a part of this medical drama?

A) I was excited about this role because it is very different from anything I’ve done before. I was able to tap into a more serious and layered character in a genre that allows you to find emotion and compassion while still finding likability in the character.

Q) What was the biggest challenge for you in preparing for the role or in filming itself?

A) The biggest challenge for me in this role was getting comfortable with this genre again after predominately doing comedy for so many years. In doing heavy roles, it is important to still find the fun in it when your job isn’t literally to be cracking jokes all day. I am forever grateful for this role for challenging me because every challenge is growth.

Q) What did you learn from the experience of working on SkyMed and how has it impacted you?

A) I learned all the tricks that go behind making a medical drama. I can’t say specifically because I don’t want to give away any spoilers. Overall, I’ve learned that doing things that scare you and challenge you are things you should be grateful for because they help you to evolve as a person (and an actor in this case).

Q) What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects you can share?

A) We have our fingers crossed for a second season of “Skymed!” Make sure to tune in and binge!

Q) What would you like to say to your fans, and to all those who support you and your work?

A) I am forever grateful. I’ve been very lucky to have the best fans, all the little ones who’ve watched me on Disney, etc. It is the most rewarding part of the process to see people support your work and the vulnerability you put into the character. We’ve also had so much amazing support with “Skymed” since its release and it makes us emotional and so thankful!
