Emily (Lily Collins) and Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) go to lunch to talk further on the previous episode’s events. Emily is upset at Sylvie for showing up unannounced and ruining things with Marcelo. She’s finally following the advice Sylvie has been giving her all season, but she wants her to mix business and pleasure. Emily goes looking for Marcelo (Eugenio Franceschini) in his home village he originally planned to take her to. On the way, she gets a phone call from Mindy (Ashley Park). Nico (Paul Forman) ruins her chances at Eurovision by posting an ad with her song, which goes against the rules. Mindy invites herself to Rome after learning Sylvie showed up.

Emily arrives in the village to search for Marcelo. Immediately it is clear he is very beloved by the entire small village. She sits for coffee and his mother comes down to greet her. She finds out he’s been talking to his mom about Emily. After speaking with his mom, Emily learns just how wholesome of a company this is and their focus on family. Marcelo is surprised to see Emily. She explains Sylvie showing up was a shock to her and immensely apologies. He believes her this time. The pair walk around the gorgeous village as he tells her the history of the town and company. The whole village is taken care of by family business. The entire town has lunch together to celebrate someone’s birthday. Emily takes a photo of the moment, but his mother asks her not to post. She explains the importance of savoring the moment just for those there. After lunch, Marcelo brings Emily to the home he grew up in. Once they begin to talk about the company plans, she tries to explain how selling his company to JVMA is a bad idea. She sees the beauty and the wholesomeness and wants the company to retain that. He wants the company to grow and make more money. His mother overhears Emily talking about the company and seems to appreciate her fondness of the integrity. She asks if they would consider meeting with Sylvie to represent them. Marcelo is upset she brought this up again and she apologizes for overstepping. He offers to have a car send her back to Rome and then to return home.

When Emily arrives back at the hotel, Mindy is waiting. They get gelato and talk through their issues as they walk the beautiful streets of Rome. Mindy expresses she feels conflicted for breaking up with Nico and tries to justify things he did. Emily talks some reason into her and something she says sparks an idea for Mindy. Mindy has been writing a song and Emily helps her finish it. She asks a man playing piano for tourists if she can take over to play her song. She tells him he can keep her tips. Emily records for her and Mindy sings another beautiful song. The theme is about the idea of finding beauty in the broken. People slowly gather to listen and she draws a crowd. Mindy’s song goes viral online and she’s invited to be a judge on the singing show she initially was on herself.

The next morning, Emily is awoken from a call from Marcelo telling her they will have the meeting. His mom expressed she was moved by Emily’s words and is willing to meet with them.

Sylvie and Emily run to throw together a pitch and find an office for the meeting. Sylvie visits an old friend who allows her to take over his office for the day. Emily presents an idea about keeping the integrity of the company through their marketing. She discusses the balance of bringing the company to more people while letting family values continue to be at the core. Marcelo’s mom is still on the fence and then Sylvie reasons with her on a personal level. She agrees to give them six months to see what they can do for the company. Marcelo is upset over this as he wanted to sell and make more. Now, they have to invest money before making it.

Gen (Thalia Besson) gets a call at the office and finds out Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) is getting a Michelin star. He immediately asks where Emily is and says she should be the one telling him. She tells him that she’s visiting the “guy she’s seeing” and he is visibly hurt. Gen continues to express how proud of him she is, but Gabriel is more focused on Emily and wishing she was there instead.

Sylvie throws a celebration party to celebrate their new deal. Emily has a hard time being excited about it all because of Marcelo. Sylvie apologizes for her contribution in showing up and ruining things. Emily says “in the end I made the decision, just not sure if I made the right one.” Marcelo arrives and smiles at her and Sylvie says “I think you did.” In this moment, we really see the growth of the relationship between Emily and Sylvie. It is clear they truly care for each other outside of a work setting now. Emily doesn’t want to be on the account for financial gain and because of this, Marcelo sees it is more than business for her. The two rekindle.

Gabriel celebrates his Michelin star with a small gathering of friends and customers. He keeps saying the same sentiment of wishing Emily was there. “Gen continues to throws herself at Gabriel and he’s not into it. He pulls her aside and places boundaries that he is not interested in romantically. He is happy to be a friend and neighbor, but nothing more. Gabriel then calls Emily and leaves her a voicemail telling her about the star.

Sylvie announces they are opening an office in Rome and she needs someone to run it. Julien (Samuel Arnold) and Luc (Bruno Gouery) both express interest but Sylvie wants Emily to run it. She reveals the deal was closed in the case that Emily stays in Rome to oversee everything.

Later on the phone, Mindy says when she’s done in Shanghai with the singing competition, she will join Emily in Rome. She runs into Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), Antonie (William Abadie) and Gabriel sitting outside of his restaurant discussing business. She lets it slip that Emily is moving to Rome for work. Gabriel is shell shocked. Alfie tells Gabriel to stop thinking and start feeling. “She’s with him only because she’s not with you.” Gabriel finally feels motivated to take action seeing he may lose her to someone else. He listens to his voicemail from Emily in French and shows visible emotion. The episode ends with Emily getting a tour of her new apartment in Rome. She takes a selfie and begins to change her username from “Emily in Paris” to possibly “Emily in Rome.” We then see Gabriel ask Mindy where exactly in Rome that Emily is and cut to Marcelo picking up Emily.
